Explain how it works
We compare every 5★ review's word count against the global distribution. Hostels where unusually many top-rated reviews are suspiciously short — way under the typical length — start to look like the staff (or a boost-my-listing service) is padding the score with throwaway praise.
The detector flags reviews that are both top-rated and below a length threshold, then estimates how many of them statistically shouldn't exist. For this hostel we scanned 692 top-rated reviews and 1% were suspiciously short.
Length z-score: 9.64. A z-score measures how far this hostel's distribution of 5★ review lengths sits from the global average, in standard deviations. 0 = perfectly typical. 1–2 = slightly unusual but within normal noise. 3–5 = strongly anomalous. Anything 10+ means the pattern is so far from the global norm that it's effectively impossible to get there organically.
This is a heuristic, not a verdict — it surfaces hostels worth a second look, not proof of fraud. Read the actual reviews below and judge for yourself.

pay directly with the hostel for a 10 bed dorm. If this review
Stayed for 4 nights and was comfortable here, not sure i would returned to this hostel. Summary of key points: Room - plenty of space and clean, air conditioned. Rooms near reception aren't good for noise, when people around there are chatting at 2am it is really loud. Bed - comfortable enough, they did creek a lot, if the top bunk moves about you can really feel it and hear it. Wifi - wifi across the hostel, but sometimes loses connection, sometimes found the connection is better in the room. not great wifi. Power and lighting - plug socket and lighting at your bed which was great, only the bed light does light up the whole room. Breakfast - tea, coffee is free, breakfast is $150, I didn't try it. Shower - shared facilities but were good, warm showers and good toilets. Security - hostel is secure but rooms are unlocked, a locker is provided for valuables with your own padlock, this won't fit a 65l bag in Laundry - not sure we didn't ask. Tours - reception are very helpful with arranging things and giving you advice, they run a few of their own tours Cooking - kitchen facilities for self catering are good. Common room - large common area is very comfortable for meeting other travelers. Atmosphere - very chilled and laid back. Location - Nice neighbourhood, we felt very safe walking around even at night. Loads of great bar's and restaurants near by. Cost - it is very cheap, only $360 pecos if you pay directly with the hostel for a 10 bed dorm. If this review was helpful please give it a like :) enjoy.
