DO NOT STAY HERE BED BUGS!!! I noticed one and brought it up to their attention and all I was told it’s dead. Now after researching bed bugs shed. As previously mentioned someone else has experienced this as well. Once I informed someone we checked the bed but know checking the bed won’t do anything since the mattress is probably infested with them and it has a cover you will not see them. CHANGING THE SHEET WILL DO NOTHING. Especially if it’s still the same pillow and duvet. I have about 10 bites coming down my neck, chest and back now one on my knee and foot. You will be told they steam and it’s likely you brought them in but not saying it’s you. I found two “dead ones” these are bunk style rooms if it’s in one it will go to the other be aware there’s nothing being done but changing sheets. It’s booked back to back so the chance of a proper cleaning is highly unlikely. Bites do not show up the day off it takes a day or a few to show just know.

BEDBUGS BEWARE!!! I just visited this hostel. At first I thought it was mosquito bites as it’s so near the water and due to no ac we kept the windows open. Upon arrival we thought the rooms and sheets looked less clean than we expected but we decided to use a newly bought liner to put on top for that reason. Two days after arriving I had over 40 bites and I have a video of a live bedbug crawling near my bed and sheddings from bedbugs all over our sheets. When I brought this to the owners attention she began immediately blaming us even though she admitted to “cleaning” for bed bugs a week prior. The “cleaning” that was done was a household steamer and they most definitely did not get into all the crevices in the wood (where they are hiding). They refused to give us back our full refund and only gave us back money for the night we left early for.

A éviter ! We do not recommend this hostel. We stayed at the hostel banana beach for 2 nights. Despite the exorbitant price of this hostel: not very pleasant and not conciliatory team, not profitable quality-price ratio, hygiene which leaves much to be desired (bedbugs). I wanted to cancel our last night, and the owner was very unpleasant and raised the tone with me. To be avoided!

Vibe Analysis
Banana Beach House Lagos centers on shared meals and a strong social rhythm. The nightly family dinner, terrace hangouts, happy hour, and surf activities make it easy to meet people, and the mood is friendly rather than full-on party. The hostel sits close to the beach and is still within reach of town. Rooms can be clean, spacious, and comfortable, with curtains on many beds, storage lockers, and a cooler feel at night. The common areas are cozy, and the setting works well for a relaxed beach stay.
Signals to check
- Some bathrooms are shared by a lot of people, so waits and cleanliness can be an issue.
- A few rooms are small or basic, and parts of the property feel dated.
- There is no air conditioning in some rooms, so heat can be a problem.
- Noise can carry from the terrace and kitchen area in rooms nearby.
- Booking handling has caused serious problems for a few people.
