Marietta - House of Social Travellers

Neighbour was full of bedbug bites. Sheets had suspicious stains. Left before my first night and got a hotel. Not a bad facility overall but they need some serious disinfestation work.

- bed bugs! Yep, that's a known issue with this hostel (I had read previous reviews), and we had bed bugs in our dorm, so got moved. - very poorly equipped kitchen. - polite, but "couldn't care less" attitude of staff. - very uncomfortable dorms/beds (no curtains in the 4 bed dorm, no lights by beds, no charging points, no hooks etc) It amazes me that the owner has spent considerable money and effort to get the big things right (showers, communal area etc), but then left the hostel to be run in a very careless way, where no one seems to care. The life for guests can be made so much better with just a tiny amount of effort, but nope, no one is interested.

One night into my stay, the room had to be evacuated because of bed bugs. Little did we know that staff knew about the issue and were trying to “manage” it without us knowing. Unfortunately half of our party was directly affected before we got out.

Do not stay at this hostel! They knew they had bedbugs and let us stay in the affected room. When we reported our bites to staff, they were unsurprised and unaccommodating. We immediately left and had to argue with them multiple times to be reimbursed for the rest of our booking. We have bug bites all over our body, some of which required medical supplies, and our clothes and bags had to be specially cleaned. The hostel did not help us with these costs. Their offer: dinner at their restaurant.

Great hostel, but unfortunately I woke up to bed bugs. Was happy that I was just staying one night

It was a very well kept hostel. Everything was very well kept and it was very modern. Only thing is, there were bed bugs in both our beds. So not great.
