Could still be good with enough luck and social skills, but not inherently social

I had bed Bugs in my bed (I saw the actual insects crawling) and they told me "that's not possible because we had them last week and cleaned the room", other employee told me it was actually in another room, they then told me there were no other rooms available and wanted me to sleep in that bed. It was a shared room and they didn't tell the other people and let them sleep in the beds! Also with that Statement I assume they didn't do anything afterwards about it either. Unaccaptable behaviour. Also, I think this is the owner's/ Manager's fault as the first employees I talked to were super nice and understanding but after talking to the "boss" they started with that stupid statement

Honestly my experience here was horrible, staff were incredibly unfriendly and refusing to help me with advice to withdraw cash and nice food places. After I got into my room I noticed that the bed had bed bugs, I went back to the reception to ask for a bed change please or if not a new set of sheets, they refused both. I ended up leaving and booking another hostel. DO NOT STAY!

Vibe Analysis

Puerto Limon Hostel has the Buenos Aires thing going for it: a handy San Telmo location, cafes and Mercado de San Telmo nearby, and a lobby/common-space setup that can look stylish at first glance. The useful bits are the location, some pleasant shared areas, a patio/balcony/kitchen setup, 24-hour reception, and a few staff or cleaning-team bright spots. The vibe signal is messy. There are sometimes lots of travelers around, and the patio/common areas can create interaction, but the pattern is not a clean "fun social hostel" signal. It can feel more like a cheap central crash pad, a guesthouse, or a chaotic long-stay house than a reliable backpacker scene. Noise from the patio, common areas, street, and other rooms can dominate, so the social energy often lands as lost sleep rather than good chaos. The main story is the downside stack: dirty bathrooms and sheets, mold or damp rooms, weak maintenance, uncomfortable beds, leaking water, broken fixtures, patchy Wi-Fi, and staff responses that may not solve basic problems. Security is the hard red flag: money, valuables, food, and belongings may not be safe in rooms or lockers, and privacy around room entry or moved belongings is a concern. This is only for travelers who want the San Telmo location badly enough to tolerate a rough maintenance and trust lottery.
