Explain how it works
We compare every 5★ review's word count against the global distribution. Hostels where unusually many top-rated reviews are suspiciously short — way under the typical length — start to look like the staff (or a boost-my-listing service) is padding the score with throwaway praise.
The detector flags reviews that are both top-rated and below a length threshold, then estimates how many of them statistically shouldn't exist. For this hostel we scanned 1399 top-rated reviews and 1% were suspiciously short.
Length z-score: 11.64. A z-score measures how far this hostel's distribution of 5★ review lengths sits from the global average, in standard deviations. 0 = perfectly typical. 1–2 = slightly unusual but within normal noise. 3–5 = strongly anomalous. Anything 10+ means the pattern is so far from the global norm that it's effectively impossible to get there organically.
This is a heuristic, not a verdict — it surfaces hostels worth a second look, not proof of fraud. Read the actual reviews below and judge for yourself.

Review-authenticity complaint
don’t trust the good reviews
Really Bad Experience – Please Don’t Book We were 5 friends who booked this place thinking it would be fun and affordable, but honestly, it was a big mistake. The location itself was very bad – it’s in the middle of a water-logged area, full of mosquitoes. The room was super small, and they had put 6 beds in it, so it felt really crowded and uncomfortable. There was hardly any light, and they gave us only one table fan. And the worst part – they don’t even allow AC during the day, even though it’s so hot in Goa! They also don’t let you bring outside food, and the food and drinks there are way too expensive. They show a low price just to attract people, but once you’re inside, you’ll end up paying a lot more.We got so frustrated that we left the place and booked an Airbnb, and that was the best decision. The Airbnb was clean, relaxing, and totally worth the money. Also, don’t trust the good reviews here they give discounts to people who write nice things, but even other people staying there were not happy. Please don’t fall for it like we did. If you want to enjoy your Goa trip, just book a good Airbnb.

told this to saurabh but taking a review
Location is nice... Rooms are nice.. Food is not up to mark.. Reception guy named saurabh has high level of attitude(he shows himself as a owner of d property). I ordered veg Maggie in which there was no salt & i just told this to saurabh but taking a review he just told me that don't order anything if u didn't like d food. The othe guy called yash is very good at his work & very co-operative. If d management is seeing this review then I will tell that remove saurabh frm d hostel as he can loose the customers & business can go down
