Bong Lux Hostel Lembongan

On paper, and after reading the reviews, it is clear that you are paying for something incredible. However, unfortunately, our stay at Bong was disappointing. The facilities clearly need maintanence. The showers have no pressure and is cold, which is common around the island, but considering the price this hostel charges we were expecting better. Furthermore, the first night we stayed at a bunk bed that had bedbugs. I woke up several times feeling bites on my body. At first, I thought it was mosquitos (which fair enough) but the next morning I woke up with several bed bugs corpses, blood stains (from them feeding on me) and a couple of living bugs. It was a big shock. The staff member helped me by organizing some laundry for my things, which was very nice, but on check out they tried charging me for it (needless to say I wasnt planning to do laundry, but with bedbugs its mandatory). The worst part was the "management". We tried contacting them several times and asked for a cancellation (we had 5 nights booked) because we clearly did not want to stay at a hostel with bed bugs, but we never got a real response. The staff also were not able to contact them. Long story short, the staff member refunded the one night with bed bugs FROM HIS POCKET MONEY because the manager never replied. So, we couldn't get our money back and had to stay there regardless. We then moved to a private room (which we had booked in advance). To our surprise, the room was extremely humid and reeked of swamp. Facilities looked dirty. In summary, Bong hostel is nice to look at but lacks proper management, maintence, and cleaning. Plus, its far away from the "city" centre and located at the top of a very steep hill. If you do not feel comfortable riding a scooter then this is definitely not your hostel. On the plus side, this hostel is visually cool and beautiful. The staff were all welcoming and kind. Everyone was always greeting you with a big smile and willing to help. Morning breakfast was ok.

Sadly we didn't have a good experience here. We booked 5 nights as we wanted to enjoy our last days in this country and for our surprise this morning we found BEDBUGS! (see videos). I understand this is a common issue you can find in hostels so we asked to cancel our booking so we could go somewhere else. The problem comes when the management of the place COULD NOT CARE LESS about the situation. We have been the whole day sending messages to him (also one of the workers tried to contact him with no luck) to sort this problem in good terms but after wasting our whole day waiting for reaponses I had to leave this review. What it started with a normal problem very easy to fix it ended with a CARELESS manager not wanting to deal with it.
