Happy Marrakchy Hostel

I felt extremely uncomfortable in this place due to the guy that works here. Upon arrival he told me he wanted to see if I had a connection with his "berber culture" and started to massage my head and neck which was very disturbing to me. He then kept saying we will smoke weed and hang out together later despite me saying I don't smoke and I'm not interested. He also told me he could show me a tea that “makes people horny”. When I asked how I will be able to get back into the hostel later he said "if the key is on the table when you leave you can take it, if the key is not there someone will let you in" which I found dodgy and unprofessional. After just 20 minutes in this place my gut instinct very clearly told me "YOU ARE NOT SAFE HERE, LEAVE!" So I booked another hostel and left as soon as I could. And I am SO glad I did, especially after reading other reviews (after the fact) about women that felt uncomfortable and presence of bed bugs. The location (despite being in what seems to be the center of the Medina) is down a deserted alleyway that I would not have felt comfortable walking down as a solo woman traveler at night. Exercise caution if you are a woman planning to stay here.

Wir waren zunächst echt sehr entzückt von dem Hostel. Es liegt ein wenig versteckt, aber man kann es schon finden mit Hilfe von google maps. Leider hatte unser Zimmer BETTWANZEN. Wir haben das leider erst relativ spät abends bemerkt, und uns auf die suche nach einem Mitarbeiter gemacht. Wir konnten dann nach einigen Erklärungsversuchen in ein anderes Zimmer umziehen. Wir hatten das Gefühl in dem Moment nicht ganz ernst genommen zu werden und es kein Verständnis gab, warum wir uns sorgen machten. Am nächsten Tag haben wir unser Geld zurückbekommen. Allerdings wurde unsere Buchung auf Hostelworld vom Inhaber storniert, so dass es uns nicht möglich war dort eine Review zu schreiben. Das Hostel ist eigentlich echt extrem sauber, das Wanzenproblem liegt auf gar keinen Fall an mangelnder Hygiene. Am nächsten Tag wurde das Hostel auch sofort von oben bis unten gereinigt und das Zimmer gesperrt. Personal nett, dennoch teils zu aufdringlich, vor allem gegenüber Frauen.
