The Red Boat Mälaren

Guest report Booking.com
The first ship looks really cool, the interior instantly transports you to another century, and it's nice to have a coffee there. My friends and I were treated to free local buns. Some staff is Ukrainian, so I give it a thumbs up. The second ship wasn't as exciting, but it was still a great experience. It was still cozy, and we barely rocked on the water. The shared bathrooms were clean and comfortable. The only thing that worried me and my friends was that there might be bedbugs in the cabin. After sleeping there, we all had red spots on our legs. I can't guarantee that this was the hostel's fault or the mattresses in the cabin, but we never walked around with our legs exposed anywhere else.
Vibe Analysis
The Red Boat Mälaren is a compact place on an actual boat, with a strong sense of novelty and a very central Stockholm location. Gamla Stan, Södermalm, the central station, and the metro are all within easy reach, and the water views are part of the stay. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the place is generally clean. Breakfast is available and can be substantial, and luggage storage is available. Rooms are often small and basic, and the boat can feel cramped and old-fashioned. Noise can travel easily between rooms and from outside, and the bathrooms and showers can feel tight when it is busy.
