   The manager put pressure on guests to rate the hostel 10/10 on plateformes. This felt like intimidation and harrassment. As a guest, I should be free to review honestly. I also noticed the manager sleeping in the dorms, which affected my sense of privacy. and asking for physical contact when drunk, In addition to that, the receptionists would open the door without knowing who was outside because the camera wasn't working, which affected both the security and the service I paid for, especially at night, the overall environment was not safe enough. I was extremely shocked to see discriminatory remarks coming from the manager. It's really sad because the place is well located and people are super welcoming. But I won't be back and I won't recommend this hostel if the same manager is still there.

   Really lovely hostel with very friendly staff, nice area downstairs with tables and a kitchen that is available to use. The hostel itself is secure with a buzz in and out system (staff at reception open the door) but the locks on the dorm doors don’t work so anyone in the hostel can walk into any dorm. Bathrooms are at one end of the floor not in the room.

   The staff in Opa hostel are absolutely amazing, especially Pam who was so so helpful when my phone was stolen in Rio (thanks again!!!). Hostel is perfectly located in Botafogo, and the kitchen is great.

   The kitchen was not working good, stuffs were stolen in our room (Including Airpods, clothes..) The personal was aware and did nothing. The room was good except the fact that all lockers were broken and no curtains. And excepted the manager, all the personal was not welcoming.

   Nice and helpful staff, and beds were very clean, and the location in Botafogo is very practical. A little tricky to find for the first time. I am not sure I was just ripped off, but I booked and payed on Booking and when I arrived they made me pay the whole booking fee again claining the "Booking is just a reservation fee read it, says it on he website". I was jetlagged and in no condition to argue so I just paid it. I checked later of course could not find any information of this sort. Also next time I just asked them directly to prolong my stay and suddenty no more fee, just the regular price (same as Booking).

   Both me and my friend had a lot of stuff stolen (we were in different rooms), like money, credit cards and so on. The security is not adequate at all as apparently anybody can just walk into a room and break into the lockers. The hostel really needs to work on this. Also the staff didn’t do anything about it. Really a shame to always have to look out for your stuff since the hostel is not safe. Get an airbnb or a different hostel with better safety.

   The place was nice but safety can definitely be improved. I had all of my money stolen after a guy broke into my locker, which was locked and then a few days later my friend had his creditcards stolen, also from a locked locker. So be very careful if you choose to stay here.

   The hostel had a strange vibe — most guests were older, which made it awkward for younger travellers looking for a social atmosphere. The reception staff often smoked weed late at night, and the smell filled the whole place. It felt really unprofessional, especially since they were too high to help when needed. One night a drunk woman took my bed, moved my belongings without permission, and refused to leave. Staff just apologised and said they couldn’t do anything.
