Bed bug reports

WARNING : POSSIBLE BEDBUGS. We stayed for 1 night and woke up the next day with bedbugs bites all over our bodies. The room was a bit dirty and humid. The window blind was held in place with duck tape and fell during the night, waking us up. Music was playing loudly until 4 AM. It's a shame because the facilities were great apart from these issues. We loved the location, close to downtown. Lots of activities available and great staff.

Vibe Analysis
Viajero Casco Viejo Hostel is built around its sixth-floor rooftop: pool, bar, restaurant, skyline views, drinks, salsa nights, and a party scene that can make the place feel more like a club than a crash pad. The location works well for Casco Viejo wandering, old-town stops, the bay, supermarkets, and Panama City plans, with shuttle access useful for onward routes. The social side is real: activities, hostel chat, a young crowd, pool table, chill and co-working areas, yoga room, luggage storage, kitchen access, and a welcome cocktail are part of the setup. Staff can be friendly and helpful, and the rooftop is easily the main magnet when the plan is to meet people and stay out late. The tradeoff is brutal: rooftop music, bass, street clubs, foot traffic, hallway noise, and rooms below the bar can make sleep extremely difficult, sometimes until 3, 4, or 5 a.m. Some rooms are tiny, dark, damp, moldy, or poorly ventilated, and bathrooms, hot water, towels, AC, locks, safes, and cleaning can be inconsistent. This is a high-risk pick for rest, but a more logical one for a nightlife-first trip.
Signals to check
- Rooftop bass and street noise can be severe late into the night, even with earplugs.
- Some private rooms are very small, windowless, damp, or affected by mold smells.
- Cleanliness and maintenance can be uneven, especially bathrooms, showers, AC, locks, safes, and towels.
- The rooftop may be open to the public at night, so the party can feel less like a hostel-only scene.
- Not a good fit for light sleepers, early tours, or anyone needing quiet remote work in the morning.
