Do not stay in this hostel!! The management are thieves and cheat people. They will charge your card after you have left the hostel even if you don't book a room for next day. Typical cheats and bring colombian name down. The dorms are disgusting, 8 people and 6 people dorms are super dirty , the bathroom is not cleaned, and the bed bugs are smelly n dirty. Scammers staff. Avoid at all costs.!!! Very bad experience, do not be fooled by the photos.

Vibe Analysis
Viajero Salento is the social, view-first option in Salento: mountain and valley scenery, outdoor common areas, a bar/restaurant, tours and activities, and enough backpacker traffic for solo travelers to find company. When the schedule and crowd click, it is easy to meet people over daytime plans, bar/common-area hangs, or the usual post-hike debrief. Staff often come across warm and helpful, 24/7 reception is handy, and the outside spaces are the strongest part of the place. Best fit: someone who wants a lively base with logistics close at hand and does not need monastery mode after sunset. It is more social launchpad than quiet nature cocoon. The tradeoff is real. Some lower-level, basement, front, and private rooms can be damp, moldy, cold, noisy, or poorly insulated, and the kitchen can be under-equipped or closed at night. Prices and add-ons can feel high for Salento. If you need deep sleep, serious self-catering, or reliably polished rooms, inspect the room and the bill like a tiny field study before you settle in.
Signals to check
- Some lower-level, basement, front, and private rooms can be damp, moldy, cold, or poorly insulated.
- Noise can carry from the bar, reception/common areas, street, and nearby rooms, so quiet sleep is not guaranteed.
- Self-catering is limited: the kitchen may close at 7pm, be poorly equipped, or feel secondary to the restaurant/bar.
- Prices, add-ons, and upsells can feel high for Salento; check tour, bar, laundry, water, transport, and event costs before reserving.
- Keep payment records and valuables tight; a few stays involved disputed extra charges or missing belongings.
