Luk Hostel

I will start off with the positives- I loved the location in Chinatown. It was quiet at night, yet still close to all of the street food. The coworking space, kitchen and rooftop patio were also pretty nice. The hostel appeared much nicer in the pictures than it was in person. The 4-bed room had curtains, a shelf, light and outlet, which was convenient and made it feel private, but no window, so the room was pretty dark. I was then scheduled to spend several nights in a private room which did have a window, but the room was small and poorly lit. It was inconvenient that the bathroom was on a different floor than my room. I found what I think is the remains of a bedbug in my bed and what could have been some bedbug droppings on the sheets. I woke up with over 30 bites on my legs in the morning. It could have been mosquito bites, and I never saw any live bedbugs there, however given the dead bug, and previous reviews mentioning bedbugs, I did not want to risk another night . Thankfully, the staff reimbursed me for the nights I had booked.

I’m sure I got bed bugs from here unfortunately :/ Facilities are unclean. Dorms are tight. People’s items and shoes are scattered all over the floor. Bathrooms are not very clean. Location is right in Chinatown so a very cool area to explore and staff is nice but it’s pretty unclean and crowded. I will not be returning.

The staff were very kind and the location is great, but i found a massive bed bug in my dorm bed. they quickly moved me to another dorm but i certainly didn’t get any sleep. if they can fix the bed bugs the place would be great

Unfortunately we noticed our bed had bed bugs on the last night of our stay (probably the reason we both have so many bites) our air con didn't work so the room was very hot every night , our room was also very noisy due to other air con systems buzzing or vibrating made it hard to settle.

I had some bad luck: a male-presenting man was using the women’s bathroom, without much concern for any other occupants. I think my bunk also had bed-bugs. I couldn’t sleep well due to the bites (definitely not mosquitos, this was under the duvet), and there was a lot of loud humming noises from (I think) the external AC unit outside.

Bed had bugs, not bed bugs per se but ants. Asked reception for different bed or room to which they did accommodate but the new bed still had bugs. Could not get proper sleep at all. Facilities are pretty run down. Location wise it’s good, but at nighttime the alleyways to the hostel are dark (something fellow female solo travellers should be aware of).

It’s a nice place, rooms are ok and it’s a great location. Unfortunately I got bit by bedbugs here, so check the mattress before you sleep here…

Bedbugs. I had it in room 405 and also killed two begbugs.

Looks great on the photos - in reality not so great. cockroaches in the bathroom, bed bugs in the room. They said they cleaned the whole room just before - didn’t help. When I told about the bed bugs the girl only changed the sheet. I went to sleep up in the living room, got all the money back. The terrace upstair is super nice and the caffee downstairs too. But if you don’t wanna get bitten by bed bugs - take some other hostel.

Great place but they have BED BUGS!!!! Lush roof bar... just beware of the bed bugs!

Would be 5/5 but I had bed bugs there and stayed about a week ago. I complained and staff moved me to another room. They were aware of bed bug reports so seems slack that they didn't resolve the issue last times. I found small old blood marks on the sheets but realised later what that was. The breakfast doesn't include tea or coffee either and that's usually what I look forward to in the morning. Just toast and cereal which was good. A friend reported the bugs too and they didn't say much to him. You'd hope they'd offer more to compensate - perhaps free laundry to ensure bugs aren't travelling with customers. Everything else with the hostel is great - location, quality and showers/bathrooms.
