We had bed bugs in our room, the staff didn’t really seem to care. Even though we had photos and videos they said they had done their own research and determined it wasn’t bed bugs.

The bed I slept in #28 Green had a lot of 'Bed Bugs' but what came up a lot was the NOISE that was occurring in the Green section which was supposed to be the QUIET section, someone was slamming the doors instead of closing it and inconsiderate to other backpackers or travellers. Someone was shouting at one point in the middle of the night, I guess not good for travellers who want to sleep during their stay.

Vibe Analysis
Sydney Central Inn is a very central, budget-leaning Sydney base near Chinatown, Central Station, Town Hall transport, food, coffee, Coles, and other city basics. It can work for a short, practical stop when location and price matter more than comfort. The setup is simple and dated. Rooms can be tiny and bare, with limited furniture, scarce power sockets, no lift, no air conditioning, and patchy in-room Wi-Fi. A kitchen is available, and the common areas may include a movie room, pub drink deal, and occasional activities. Noise is the big tradeoff. Street traffic, partygoers, nearby nightlife, corridor noise, extractor fans, garbage trucks, and thin windows can make sleep rough, especially in street-facing rooms. Cleanliness is also uneven, with recurring problems around bathrooms, damp smells, mould, dirty carpets, blocked toilets, wet floors, and pests.
Signals to check
- Ask for a quieter room away from the street if sleep matters.
- Expect stairs, basic rooms, and limited charging access near beds.
- Bathrooms and shared areas may feel worn, damp, or inconsistently clean.
- Cockroaches and at least one bedbug issue appear in recent stay experiences.
- Key deposits may be cash-based, and locker access may cost extra.
