I noticed bed bug bites on me after having stayed here. They might not be from staying at this hostel, could not know for sure. Location was good, but the hostel was quite empty during my stay, so not really social

Sadly, there are bedbugs. I was there for 5 days and I got a lot of bites. The lockers could be improved, and not all the guests will get one.

Vibe Analysis
Hostel N1 is built around quiet-house rules, central Sofia access, and a calmer kind of hostel stay. It sits close to Serdika, the airport metro line, Lidl, main sights, and the bus or train station within a walkable radius, so it works well for city days and early travel logistics. The rule-heavy setup is the whole personality here: this is more sleep lab than party bunker. Nights can be peaceful, dorms can be dark and clean, and privacy curtains or well-designed bunks appear in at least some rooms. The hostel can still be friendly in a low-key way, with a small common room, kitchen, balcony, free coffee or tea at times, and tours or excursions sometimes arranged through the desk. Nina and the woman at reception are a major part of the stay when things go well: warm check-ins, constant cleaning, help with food, room moves, local suggestions, coffee, and a very hands-on style. That same hands-on style can also feel strict or uncomfortable, especially with the number of signs, rules, deposits, and extra charges. This is not a slick, high-energy social hostel. It is an older building with practical basics, a strong quiet policy, and a central location. Best fit: Sofia travelers who want cheap, calm, clean-enough sleep near the metro and do not mind rules. Bad fit: nightlife seekers, loose-plans backpackers, or anyone allergic to fines, deposits, cramped bathrooms, and old infrastructure.
