The host should pay serious attention to cleanliness! It is unacceptable to have BEDBUGS and mold! We were with a small child and the horror of finding a woodworm crawling next to her head was total. They were lucky that I saw this one hour before our flight.. the bathroom floor is not clean, moss remains, the whole bathroom is in mold and the water only runs when pressed or it will stop after 1 minute. That's how you wash your hands/face. The sheets are not put on the bed, apparently to check for bugs…the breakfast is extremely limited..very disappointed to stay in this place!

I think this was a pretty clean and convenient hostel and the staff was very kind to me. There aare a few things to note- "Youth" hostel means actual achool age children will be here seemingly on trips, so if that bothers you keep that in mind. Also there ended up being a fairly large infestation of bed bugs while I was staying here. This can happen anywhere and isnt necessarily their fault, but it is worth the reminder to check your mattress before you sleep and unpack your belongings.

Warning: We had bedbugs and even saw them on the wall. The staff was very friendly and after we showed them our stiches they gave us another private room. It seemed like it wasn‘t the first time people had trouble with that. The air in our first room was terrible and the ac wasn‘t working or really loud. We couldn‘t open the window. The breakfast was ok, but barely no vegan options.

Vibe Analysis
Barcelona Pere Tarres Youth Hostel is a large, practical base near Diagonal and Numancia, with easy public transport links, Sants within reach, and a shopping center nearby. It works best as a budget stop where location, 24-hour reception, luggage storage, parking, and included breakfast matter more than charm. The useful stuff is mostly on the reception level: a kitchen for self-catering, a big dining area, breakfast, and a patio or common area that can feel decent. The building can handle a lot of beds, so the mood is more institutional youth hostel than cozy backpacker den. Rooms are the weak zone. Dorms can be hot, poorly ventilated, noisy, and plain, with no bed curtains, limited furniture, uncomfortable mattresses, loud under-bed storage, and bunks that may feel awkward or unsafe to climb. Some bathrooms are inside rooms, sometimes split between toilet and shower, and the setup can feel closer to a school residence or public facility than a polished hostel. Breakfast is included and can be a real plus when it is stocked well, though it may also feel basic or repetitive. Staff experiences are mixed: some individual staff members are helpful and kind, while daytime reception can be blunt or unwelcoming.
Signals to check
- Not a strong pick for atmosphere, privacy, or a social hostel feel.
- Dorm comfort is inconsistent, especially around heat, ventilation, mattress quality, and bunk access.
- Cleanliness and smells can be an issue in rooms, bathrooms, corridors, lifts, and common areas.
- Noise can be rough, from roommates, school groups, corridors, plumbing, and air conditioning.
- Beds may need to be made on arrival, and blankets or towels may require asking or extra clarity.
- Breakfast is included, but variety and restocking can be uneven.
- Possible pest concerns appear serious enough to check recent conditions before booking.
