Just got a misadventure with a bed bug I found before going to bed. But the owner handled it well, we washed all my clothes just in case I brought it from another hostel. Even though I never had any problems before and neither after fortunately. And the owner did the treatment with a special smoke machine in the room to kill everything bugs to avoid any further complications.

Well, everything was quite nice, but we (a friend and I, who were in different Hostels except this one) had bed bug bites after this one. You should address that issue during the quiter winter time, this can happen to every hotel/hostel. Aside from that, the hostel was quite clean, offered activities and had nice guest. Free towels are a plus!

My first 20 minutes there, found a bed bug inside the bunk bed curtain. Checked out right away. Probably bed bugs in all hostels, so that’s something to always consider is a risk staying at a hostel.

Holy Rock sits in Kalambaka with Meteora trails close enough to start on foot, plus the train station, bus station, supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants, and bars within easy walking distance. It works especially well for hikers who want simple logistics, local route tips, and a cheap base before monastery days. The hostel has a warm, backpacker-ish social pulse without sounding like a forced party machine. The lounge has sofas and a communal setup that makes it easy to find hiking partners, share route ideas, or just defrost by the stove in colder months. Kosta, Nikos, Vanda, and the volunteer crew can be very helpful with monastery plans, transport questions, maps, and practical fixes. The kitchen is a real part of the stay here: large, useful, and set up for cooking, with fridges and basic gear. Rooms are generally simple, spacious, and clean, with lockers, towels, air-con in at least some rooms, and comfortable beds. Lower bunks may have curtains, but upper bunks can be more bare-bones. This is not a polished boutique hostel. It is relaxed, inexpensive, a little scruffy in places, and strongest when judged as a friendly Meteora base with good common spaces and a lot of human warmth.
