    Unfortunatly I would suggetst to stay away from this hotel. Reasons: Hidden fees, not clean and I found lady hair in my towel, rust in the bathroom. I asked for a bottle of water at the front desk as I walked in at 11:00 pm, the front desk guy told me we don't have any water and the vending maching is broken. They need to change managment and spend some money to get this hotel clean. The reviews look fake to me on this hotel. Spend your money on another hotel...

    I had to cancel my trip to DC 4 days before check-in, and they would not give me a refund. This policy is ridiculous. Even 5 star hotels allow you to cancel one day before check-in without penalty or charge one night only. Beware if you need to cancel with ample time… you will not get your money back!

    UPDATE: $250.00 ERRONEOUS CHARGE In my previous review I explained how I was charged an extra $250 2 WEEKS AFTER MY STAY on September 24th, 2024. I stayed here at the Generator on September 8-10th. I was originally told I was charged due to the smell of smoke being detected in the room by housekeeping by a young lady on the phone. I then explain to her that I don’t smoke and the person with me did not smoke in the room. So it’s impossible that they smelled smoke in my room. I was then told someone by the name of Thaddeus from accounting would contact me. But HE NEVER DID. So, I continued to contact the hotel in efforts to get in contact with this so called accounting manager but was unsuccessful. FAST FORWARD to November 15th, 2024… I received an email from the Financial Controller THADDEUS RICHBURG stating that there was a charge DONE IN ERROR that was “reversed less than a minute later”. Now how can a charge be reversed in LESS THAN A MINUTE??? How is it even possible that my card was changed TO BEGIN WITH?? And why was I initially told a something entirely different?? My bank statements DO NOT reflect what I was told. There was NEVER A REFUND of any sort and it is now DECEMBER and I HAVE YET TO BE REFUNDED MY MONEY!!! I BEG ANYONE READING THIS REVIEW TO PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH BOOKING WITH THIS HOTEL! I am still trying to resolve this issue with my bank and Booking.com but it has been the longest drawn out process ever. PS: On December 11th, 2024 management said over the phone that they WILL NOT REFUND ME MY MONEY- THE MONEY THEY MISTAKENLY TOOK!! SO WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU ABOUT THIS HOTEL?? STAY AWAY!!!

    I’ve always had a nice experience staying at Generator Washington but I’m writing this review with 1 star overall because of this suspicious activity repeating twice already. In each case, after few days of my stay in DC I get charged another $50 (separate from the pre-Authorization fee they do for each stay) made under Generator Florida. I called them to resolve the issue and each time been able to get a refund but I always wonder why they keep my card on file even though I specifically tell them not to during check out. I stay here frequently and its the second time this has happened to me..smh Makes me wonder if this has happened to others who didn’t care to check their card transactions. Very disappointed!!!

    It's painfully obvious that more than four dozen of their recent reviews (all 5 stars, all in the last two days) are fake -- either paid for or staff. It's the only reason this place is above 4 stars. I'd hoped to stay in the female-only dorm, for safety and comfort reasons, and I asked if they would honor the price of the mixed dorm, asking why it was $15 more expensive for the female dorm, when it's the same room. They refused, and didn't explain why the extra cost (except because it's "exclusively" for women ... ok), and I decided not to book at all. Spoke to two staff members about this who were incredibly unhelpful. Best of luck receiving any patrons with fake reviews and no flexibility for guests' comfort.
