Back Home Backpackers
Near Khao San, river ferries and bus links, with a downstairs bar/cafe for drinks; consider a dorm, as recent bedbug complaints involve private rooms.

Vibe Analysis
Back Home Backpackers has the Bangkok location part mostly handled: close to restaurants, bars, 7-Eleven, Khao San, the river, ferry, and bus links, but not right inside the loudest tourist lane. The downstairs bar/cafe/common area can be a decent place to sit with a drink, and there are scattered positives for friendly staff, good AC, free water, tours, and a few clean dorm setups. Do not book it expecting a reliable party-hostel machine. The social programming is inconsistent, with activities often not happening unless enough people join, and the atmosphere can be flat. Private rooms are the weak spot: repeated damp or mold smell, tiny or dark rooms, hard beds, wet-room bathrooms, noise, and cleanliness issues. For dorms it can be a basic location play; for private rooms, the evidence is rough.
