Explain how it works
We compare every 5★ review's word count against the global distribution. Hostels where unusually many top-rated reviews are suspiciously short — way under the typical length — start to look like the staff (or a boost-my-listing service) is padding the score with throwaway praise.
The detector flags reviews that are both top-rated and below a length threshold, then estimates how many of them statistically shouldn't exist. For this hostel we scanned 1256 top-rated reviews and 0% were suspiciously short.
Length z-score: 6.69. A z-score measures how far this hostel's distribution of 5★ review lengths sits from the global average, in standard deviations. 0 = perfectly typical. 1–2 = slightly unusual but within normal noise. 3–5 = strongly anomalous. Anything 10+ means the pattern is so far from the global norm that it's effectively impossible to get there organically.
This is a heuristic, not a verdict — it surfaces hostels worth a second look, not proof of fraud. Read the actual reviews below and judge for yourself.

5 stars but the free breakfast
One of the better hostels that I have stayed at. Its in a great location, close to the beach and a CVS and tour guide around the corner. We had a private room and the room had nice windows, bathroom was outstanding, and the bed was a king size bed and felt newer. I would highly recommend this place. I would give it 5 stars but the free breakfast was more of a free snack bar. You got to pick from a banana, honey bun, oatmeal, or yogurt. That was my only complaint.

review, but I felt like I needed to for this one. Honestly it’s worth pay
Don’t waste your money I have stayed in 100’s of hostels and I would easily say that this hostel is the worst service I have received. My partner and I booked a private room as we were arriving early in the morning. We booked the room for the previous night so when we arrived we could check straight into our room. On arrival the hostel advised us that they marked us as a no show and they could not let us into the room until the check in time of 3pm (this is for night two) they said there was absolutely nothing they could do. We paid $200 aud for this room for the night and they honestly didn’t care. When we were trying to sort it with the two receptionist they asked if we could speak Spanish and we advised we couldn’t so they continued speaking Spanish to each other. I think is extremely rude, it made us feel very uncomfortable. I think this is really poor service, I have never stayed somewhere where you can’t check in the morning when you have paid for the previous night??? Check in on the website states from 3pm onwards it has no 3pm -12am?? At what time do you mark in the system a no show?? Other things to note they only store luggage until 5pm the following day if any longer a 25us charge applies. It feels like a hostel out for your money and not a lot else. I’ve never left a bad review, but I felt like I needed to for this one. Honestly it’s worth paying a little bit more for something better.

told Booking representative when i requested review
Location is great, the place is maintained well, there is options for enternaiment, plus room outsiide and fascilities to use. The price is ok for this time of the year. The Property Manager oredered to take my belongings and lugagge away from my room without even telling me abd in my abcense despite the fact I have extended my stay with another 2 days. She tniks since she is the "boss" she can do whenever she wants. On the top of that when I told her what she do is not legal and they need to make sure I agree my peronalbelongings and my property to be touched or taken away by service staff in this place she cancelled my reservation against my will, evicted me from the room and banned me from this Hotel. Later she lied and told Booking representative when i requested review that I was rude. Don't be fool, nothing of that is true.Be careful they also tell the rooms are occupied so they constantly move you from the bigger to a smaller room and they give you no choice. The place itself is nice and I like it but as they say People make the place so keep that in mind.

told me: 1- Guests that had not had written a very good review
There isn't that much I liked about this place. The worst mistake I have made choosing a hostel in Miami Beach. I paid for three separate stays eight months ahead of my trip, five weeks all together, (2 weeks, 2 weeks, 1 week). Since my very first time I stayed at this place, I complained about not getting cold water at either the shower or the sink, you are supposed to get Hot and Cold and then adjust it to a comfortable mix. They didn't seem to care about it. When I stayed for the other two weeks, nothing had changed. The bad thing was what the woman that checked me in told me: 1- Guests that had not had written a very good review would not be accepted next time. Hello!! (I made my reservations 8 months earlier). 2- She said I should write a better review next time. I mentioned it to other employees, something she didn't like at all. The worst part of the story is that was expecting my medications shipped from Los Angeles to the hostel, I had mentioned it to everyone at the reception. (they were going to charge me $5 to accept the package). The Post Office carrier took my medications to the counter, and to my misfortune, the woman at the reception that day was the same one that I mentioned about, and told the carrier that I was not staying there. You have no idea of how I felt. It was three months supply for my health. INHUMANE.

Vibe Analysis
Beds&Drinks is mostly a location play: close to South Beach, Lincoln Road, Ocean Drive, shops, restaurants, buses, and cheap public parking a couple blocks away. It can work as a basic Miami crash pad when price and beach access matter more than comfort. There is a bar, an outside patio, and an indoor lounge, with a welcome drink ticket and occasional karaoke or movie nights. The social setup is limited, though; common areas may close early, and the main hangout space can feel small. Rooms are bare-bones. Expect bunks without privacy curtains, limited outlets near upper beds, small lockers, firm mattresses, loud doors, and cold or noisy air conditioning in some rooms. A kitchen is not available, and there may be no fridge or microwave for personal food. This is not a polished hostel. Cleanliness, hot water, WiFi, staff help, deposits, extra fees, and room assignment handling all need caution. It is best treated as a cheap, short Miami base rather than a comfortable social hostel.
Signals to check
- No shared kitchen, fridge, or microwave is available for normal hostel food prep.
- Dorm beds generally do not have privacy curtains, and outlets or personal lights may be missing near beds.
- Cleanliness is inconsistent, especially in bathrooms and dorm rooms.
- A security deposit and extra fees may apply, and deposit returns can be a headache.
- Noise, cold rooms, weak WiFi, and limited late common space may affect sleep or work.
- Service can be blunt or unhelpful, especially around refunds, room changes, luggage, and complaints.
- Solo women and anyone needing strong dorm safety support should be cautious with mixed-room bookings.
