Bed bug reports

Please be careful, everyone. Everyone should always check their beds for bugs before using them. And, Please respond to Agoda as soon as possible. I was bitten by a bed bug while staying at this hostel. After 2-3 days, I started to feel itchy and swollen, so I went to the hospital. The itching went away with pills and ointment, but I'm worried that the bite scars may remain for the rest of my life. The host was very nice and helped me find the bus to Cappadocia. The breakfast was also delicious and sumptuous. So I'm sad that this happened to me.

Vibe Analysis
The rooftop terrace is the easy win at Agora Guesthouse & Hostel: breakfast happens up there, part of the space has a sea or Bosphorus view, and it can turn into the main social moment of the day. The hostel sits in Sultanahmet, close to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi, restaurants, shops, and the tram, so it works best as an old-city launchpad rather than a big party base. The strongest version of the place is clean, compact, friendly, and practical. Breakfast is included and often lands well, with hot and cold drinking water available around the building. Dorm beds may have privacy curtains, lights, outlets, and under-bed lockers or drawers, and the female dorm has been a good fit for solo women when the room setup works. Staff can be warm and hands-on, from tea at arrival to city help, late check-in support, hammam booking, and small gestures like slippers or room upgrades. The vibe is more family-house calm than chaos machine: good for meeting people over breakfast or winding down with wine on the terrace, less reliable for organized events or a loud backpacker scene.
Signals to check
- Rooms can be very small, and basement or windowless dorm setups may feel stuffy or cramped.
- Bathrooms are shared and unisex in parts of the property; they may be downstairs from the room, wet, basic, or short on privacy.
- Noise can be an issue from breakfast prep, metal lockers, thin walls, street sound, cleaning, or dorm mates.
- Breakfast quality varies: it can be generous and fresh, but it can also feel repetitive, basic, or not worth paying extra for.
- WiFi, air conditioning access, showers, and laundry options can be inconsistent.
- Room locks, front-door control, reservation handling, card fees, and staff attitude have been serious pain points at times, so confirm key policies before arrival.
