Bed bugs

Worst stay ever! Had bedbugs in the first night in two of our beds and the receptionist were not helpful at all. We planed to stay for 3 nights and didnt get one night refunded. The manager was never available. We needed to search a new hostel! And the room was very filthy and not cleaned.

me and my friends wanted to stay at this hostel for 3 nights, but we had to leave after the first night because two of us had ‼️bed bug bites‼️. the boss of the hotel wasn’t forthcoming at all and didn’t want to refund any, not even the two nights we didn’t spend there. all in all the medina and the streets of essaouira are really really nice, unfortunately right in the middle of it is just this little crappy, dirty place called atlantic hostel. p.s. go to riad maqam; it’s modern, clean and only 3 minutes away. cheers!!

Schlechtestes Hostel was ich je in meinen Leben besucht habe. Zahlte das Hostel für 3 Nächte für mich und meine zwei Freunde, jedoch wechselten das Hostel nach einer Nacht da wir alle mit Bettwanzen befallen waren. Bekamen kein Geld rückerstattet und der Service war grauenhaft. Allgemein das Hostel in einem sehr sehr ekelhaftem Zustand. Die Better werden nie gewaschen und haben Flecken. Alles ist am rosten und man hat kaum Platz in den Zimmern. Der Boden wie die Toilleten und das ganze Hostel sind sehr dreckig.

Isn't a good in place in all , dirty bed bugs the smell is awful and snitchy receptionist he was asking us about where we going next and where we coming from I don't trust them. Please don't go there unless you wanna live a jail cell experience for couple of nights !!! I left this place and booked another airbnb

‼️Bed bug bites when we left ‼️ The the room was pretty awful: the sheets were stained and covered in hair (not sure if they were clean), the room was tiny and smelled musty and it wasn’t sound proof at all. Since the rooms are under a loud rooftop restaurant, it made it hard to sleep. On the positive side: The staff was really nice and welcoming. The location is great, right next to the main street of Essaouira. The shared showers and toilets were clean.

They promised us a room with two single beds but gave us a room with a bed and a mattress on the floor - the room itself was dirty and the only window couldn’t be closed properly. It was super loud until 2-3 in the morning and cold so we tried to stuff a towel in in order not to freeze! They call it a coworking space as well however the WiFi was never working so some digital nomads were having trouble living their lifes. Some people also complained about bed bugs but thank god we weren’t bitten. It’s a nice place to hang out and meet people but I wouldn’t stay here anymore.

This hostel has bed bugs. I’m now dealing with my body being covered in bedbug bites... On top of that I felt very uncomfortable here. Yes, there’s no alcohol but the place felt grungy, dirty and I ate my breakfast while my host that checked me in was sleeping across from me with a hostel guest. Awkward for everyone there. Everyone in my room chose to leave the next morning and go to a different hostel. Don’t recommend.

I found most of the staff at the hostel to be quite kind. However, I felt disrespected by the lack of upkeep. I realize Morocco holds a different standard of living but holes in the walls, broken windows, mold, poor WiFi, and dirty sheets are things that any host should be considerate of. The kitchen at this place is so small and grimy that it is nearly unusable. We found mouse droppings on our bed and the bedbugs were rampant around the shared dorms. There was no hand soap for the toilets and some of the toilets often won’t flush. There is a strict no alcohol policy which was a bummer as most other hostels and riads are fine with drinking. My friend received a notification from hostel world “confirming [his] review change”. He left a poor review and a week later someone called in to change it to a positive review. If the folks running this place want to keep things going, they should close the hostel for a couple weeks while they bring everything up to code.

The hostel is in the middle of the medina, well located. Chef Couscuz and all the staff are gracious and lovely. At the dinner that the hostel offers you can meet other guests, talk and go out together later. It's a great opportunity to make friends. The price is good. The only problem is the bed bugs that bother you at night.

BED BUGS, FILTHY, DO NOT STAY HERE. I wasn’t going to leave such a bad review here (despite my stay being terrible), simply because the chef Couscous was very sweet, loving and caring. HOWEVER... We arrived at the hostel 2 nights ago after booking on Hostelworld, since there were glowing reviews and virtually nothing bad said about them. Upon arrival, they had overbooked the 6 person room we booked so moved us to an 8 person, which we didn’t find to be a big deal. ****Within 5 minutes of our stay, we were told by roommates and other people in the hostel that bed bugs had been found in all the rooms, people were covered in bites, and most disgusting: the 12 person room next door to us had witnessed bed bugs literally running across the floor, and leaping on mattresses. One guy even killed one on his surfboard.***** We arrived later in the evening and as two young, female travellers, we decided it be best to tough it out one night and leave in the morning. When we left the next morning, we told them we were checking out early because of the bed bug situation (that they know about because we heard them talking about it amongst each other and heard people leave angrily because of it), they told us that THE ONLY WAY WE COULD GET OUR MONEY BACK FOR THE REMAINING 2 NIGHTS OF OUR STAY WOULD BE IF WE EMAILED HOSTELWORLD SAYING WE NEVER CAME AT ALL. At first, I was told by staff that this was so they don’t get screwed on the deposit. When I went to make a review later in the day on Hostelworld, I was unable because my email had mentioned I never came so my stay was cancelled, thus not allowing me to make a review. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY WHY THE REVIEWS ARE SO HIGH WITH NO MENTION OF BED BUGS, because the travellers that leave because of it aren’t able to make reviews. It is disgusting, and they know how bed bugs affect business, so it’s horrendous that they continue to allow travellers to come to their hostel and infest themselves and then move to other hostels to screw other people over. 0. Stars.

Place would be nice, but they have bed bugs everywhere! When we told them they would say that they know.. I would avoid this hostel

Tenía alguna duda sobre éste hostel al leer reseñas, mucha gente decía que había chinches (bedbugs). Yo encontré la habitación limpia y puede ver cómo por las mañanas limpian a fondo, incluso sacan las camas de la habitación. Seguramente tuvieron ese problema, pero ahora lo tienen todo controlado. Nada más llegar Soukina me habré la puerta y me encantó el lugar, el hostel más grande que he visto. No tendrás problema si no hablas inglés, hay un chico muy atento que habla español. Increíble ambiente, muchas chicas guapas y una terraza para flipar. No incluye el desayuno. Tienen un servicio de lavandería muy correcto por 50dh. En invierno puede ser un lugar un poco frío, por qué el edificio es un poco viejo y se nota un poco de corriente, pero cuando hace calor eso se agradece. Si fumas el producto nacional vigila al bajar las escaleras de la terraza son un poco irregulares.

BEDBUGS BEWARE!

Dieses Hostel hat seine 4 Sterne hier definitiv nicht verdient. Wir zahlten stolze 25 Euro pro Nacht in einem Zweibettzimmer, bei dem das Fenster zugenagelt war- keine Chance, durchzulüften. In Anbetracht der Tatsache, dass wir jeden Morgen vom Kloakenduft der direkt neben dem Zimmer liegenden Toilette beglückt wurden, ein No Go. Das Hostel ist super schmutzig und ranzig. Dass andere hier von Bettwanzen sprachen, wundert mich keineswegs. Unsere Wäsche haben wir dort für teures Geld waschen lassen- was soll ich sagen, ich Reise wohl mit der Hälfte meiner Socken und Unterhosen wieder nach Hause. Zugegebenermaßen eine tolle Dachterasse und dank der lieben und entspannten Leute eine doch schöne Atmosphäre. Uns graute leider so sehr, dass wir beschlossen, unseren Aufenthalt zu verkürzen- was in einer höchst aggressiven Diskussion mit einem Angestellten endete, der mir einen Preis vorrechnete, dann behauptete, wir wären zu doof zum Rechnen und dann einfach wild auf seine Kalkulation noch 200 Dirham draufschlug. Dabei können sie froh sein, wenn man überhaupt bereit ist, für diese Gammlerhütte den geforderten Preis zu zahlen. Wären sie uns dabei entgegengekommen, wäre es zu verkraften gewesen, aber uns noch abziehen zu wollen und wild irgendwelche Steuern einzufordern- ich kann es guten Gewissens als Touristenfalle betiteln. Für denselben Preis gibt es genügend schönere Hostels in Essaouira:)

The staff was really friendly and helpful. The location cannot be better, in the heart of the medina. In my stay i had bedbugs and the rooms smell bad, which something has to give up for that price.

bed bugs ;(

Bedbugs! Careful! And though the people there were nice, they didn't help us after having reported about the bedbugs. They don't wash the beds and it was disgusting. I'm sorry to say all that, because it could really be a great place. They have a pretty big terrace, the prices are not too high, and the the staff is nice.

Beds didnt feel clean (and got bitten by bedbugs). Staff was nice though, location good. 😬

BED BUGS IN ALMOST EVERY ROOM!!

They gave our room away despite having a reservation. Then when they found some of our group a new room we had to leave after a few minutes because it was infested with bed bugs. Do not stay here under any circumstances!
