Mad Monkey Siem Reap is for people who actively want the hostel to do the partying for them. The positive version is obvious: pool, rooftop/sand bar, bar crawls, nightly events, drinking games, tours, cheap beers, a young crowd, and a location close enough to Pub Street and Siem Reap food spots. It can be easy to meet people, and the better dorm/private-room setups include clean beds, friendly bar staff, good showers, and smooth Angkor tour setup. The other version is loud, commercial, and rough around the edges. This is a bad match for sunrise-temple sleep, quiet work, or anyone over the party-hostel threshold. Noise runs late, staff/service can be uneven, food/drinks/tours can feel overpriced, and there are repeated complaints about pests, bedbugs, water/AC problems, security, and room quality. Fun machine, yes. Restorative sanctuary, absolutely not.
