Explain how it works
We compare every 5★ review's word count against the global distribution. Hostels where unusually many top-rated reviews are suspiciously short — way under the typical length — start to look like the staff (or a boost-my-listing service) is padding the score with throwaway praise.
The detector flags reviews that are both top-rated and below a length threshold, then estimates how many of them statistically shouldn't exist. For this hostel we scanned 6940 top-rated reviews and 1% were suspiciously short.
Length z-score: 20.18. A z-score measures how far this hostel's distribution of 5★ review lengths sits from the global average, in standard deviations. 0 = perfectly typical. 1–2 = slightly unusual but within normal noise. 3–5 = strongly anomalous. Anything 10+ means the pattern is so far from the global norm that it's effectively impossible to get there organically.
This is a heuristic, not a verdict — it surfaces hostels worth a second look, not proof of fraud. Read the actual reviews below and judge for yourself.

5 stars HOWEVER staff assigned my booking to other guests then refused a refund
Hostel was clean with decent sized rooms and great views … would stay again and rate 4/5 stars HOWEVER staff assigned my booking to other guests then refused a refund at the time meaning I had to use a friends spare room on his booking. Staff were kind of unhelpful. Review edit 3 stars to one star One week later and the hotel are saying they fulfilled my booking and are refusing a refund.

Pressure to leave a review
asked him how I could give him a review
I gave 5 stars review because of Yernur. He is very attentive, patient, kind and prompt. I need a room change for some reason, he listened to me and managed all my request promptly with good smile and attitudes even I came back to check with him for a couple of times, which made my stay became pleasant in Prague even the location of this hostel is a little out of town. So I asked him how I could give him a review and I’m glad to write it here. I really appreciate for his service, and I hope the management appreciate that you got a super staff too!

Review-authenticity complaint
reviews. So don’t worry that the reviews could be fake
Just checked in and the room is dirty while they say it’s cleaned, it’s like the other reviews. So don’t worry that the reviews could be fake as they are reel…. Further more update after the first night: alcoholic hotel , people in the room start drinking at 10 am in the morning. So if you want to enjoy weird sounds a drunk people in the morning or steeling people your cutlery ….. UPDATE : RUDE security people, still dirty every where you are is something dirty. A lot of people who are weird & drunk, not what you expect but maybe what you could expect for your money ;-) Conclusion: For me don't go here! Clean? NO! Friendly Security? NO!

Vibe Analysis
a&o Prague Rhea is a huge 21-floor budget place with low Prague pricing, a big lobby, a bar, paid breakfast, 24-hour reception, self check-in, and easy public transport nearby. Higher floors can bring wide city views, and the building works best as a cheap bed when expectations are kept basic. This is more mega-hostel than cozy backpacker hub: large school or sport groups, busy common areas, karaoke or evening activities at times, table football and billiards downstairs. It can feel crowded and noisy, especially around reception, breakfast, halls, and elevators. The practical setup is uneven. Some rooms are spacious and simple, but rooms can also be hot, poorly ventilated, dirty, or not ready on arrival. Bedding may need to be collected and put on yourself, towels may cost extra, and the three elevators can mean long waits in a 21-floor building. Kitchen and laundry exist, but they are weak points: the kitchen can be poorly equipped, and washer or dryer use may be frustrating. Staff help and communication can be limited, and room assignment problems are serious enough that solo travelers, women in dorms, and families should think carefully.
Signals to check
- Rooms can get very hot, with weak or no air conditioning and windows that may not open.
- Cleanliness is inconsistent in rooms, bathrooms, halls, breakfast areas, and elevators.
- Check-in, reception help, and elevator waits can take a long time.
- Bedding and towels may not be ready in the room; towels may cost extra.
- Noise from large groups, hallway traffic, and late-night activity can make sleep difficult.
- Female-only or assigned-bed arrangements may not always be handled reliably.
