I really didn't like the reception guy that was very disrespectful by talking rude to me and eating his meal while serving me and blam me for breaking the door that he claims he locked it and it wasn't. Such a bad experience. That guy should not work there at all. He gives bad presentation to this place The place also has bedbugs which is horrible!! I cant sleep now because i have bites all over my body! And i only stayed there for one night. That place should be cleaned immediately

Best place to find bed bugs. We woke up with a lot of bites but according to the manager it did not came from this backpackers. It was however the only room in which we all slept together with my friends.

Vibe Analysis
Peppertree Lodge is a budget Paihia base close to the beach, wharf, cafes, restaurants, and tour departures. The practical wins are clear: a big shared kitchen, indoor lounges, outdoor seating, and an easy setup for cooking, chilling, and walking into town. The standout here is the amount of shared space. There are different corners to sit outside or inside, including lounge areas and a large kitchen, so it suits backpackers who want a simple social base rather than a polished hotel room. Rooms can be clean, comfortable, and good value, with towels and soap sometimes included, and private or ensuite options available. Staff can be helpful with check-in, bed requests, parking workarounds, and using facilities after checkout. This is not a sleeper-first place. Thin walls, common-area noise, squeaky bunks, hot rooms without air con, weak Wi-Fi, limited plugs, and patchy bathroom or room cleaning can all be part of the deal. Parking on site is limited and may be first come, first served.
