Unfortunately I was bitten by bedbugs during my stay so I have to leave a negative review since this is unacceptable for me.

Room 201, bed 3 had bed bugs. Please investigate. I had a severe case of it specifically from this bed. It’s a decent hostel, but very unsociable and not good for solo travellers. No one talks to one another, everyone in their own groups. Has a very young vibe as well. The staff are efficient, location good. More bathrooms were located downstairs. Okay hostel, but would recommend elsewhere if going solo.

Vibe Analysis
YellowSquare Milan is a social, bar-forward hostel near Porta Romana, with metro access that makes the center reachable without much fuss. The setup is a little hybrid: reception and common areas double as a public bar, cafe, and restaurant, and there is a basement club that can turn the whole place into a late-night scene. The basement club is the defining feature here. It makes the hostel feel lively, especially for younger travelers who want drinks, DJ nights, karaoke, games, bar quizzes, cocktail classes, and easy chances to meet people, but it also means sleep can get wrecked when music runs late. Common spaces are a strength, with a bar, kitchen, courtyard or outdoor areas, and plenty of places to hang out. Food and drinks can be solid, and perks like a welcome drink or free pasta may add to the social rhythm. Rooms are more practical than cozy: clean beds and bathrooms are possible, but dorms can be small, metal bunks and lockers can be loud, and bed curtains are usually missing. This is best for a short Milan stay where nightlife and social energy matter more than quiet recovery.
Signals to check
- Noise can be intense, with club music, hallway sound, and drunk dorm traffic sometimes lasting until around 3am.
- Not ideal for light sleepers or anyone needing an early night.
- Heating, cooling, hot water, and room temperature can be inconsistent.
- Staff experience is mixed, from friendly and helpful to rude or unhelpful.
- Some rooms are small, and metal beds, lockers, or top-bunk ladders can be uncomfortable or noisy.
- Cleanliness is uneven, with mold, smell, and pest problems appearing in isolated cases.
- Breakfast timing and format may not work well for early departures.
- Bring a lock for lockers, and expect limited privacy in dorm beds.
