Dont stay here! Bed bugs! One of the staff (possibly the owner) was very rude and didn't make us feel welcome at all . The Showers were hot which was a + and the kitchen was okay. The pool was gross and small. There are way better options in town

Got bitten very badly by the mosquitos/bed bugs. No mosquito net, even slept with cover and still got bitten so I suspect there were bed bugs as well.

Estilo Hostel Hakuna Matata has a big green garden with mango trees, frequent wildlife, hammocks, couches, games, and a small pool, so the place feels more like a mellow Cahuita backyard than a polished chain hostel. Monkeys, agoutis, bats, cats, and the occasional sloth can be part of the scene, with free mangoes or coconuts sometimes around when the trees are doing their thing. The location is the cheat code: the bus terminal, supermarket, ATM, restaurants, Cahuita National Park, and the beach are all close on foot. It works well for a soft landing in town, a low-friction park day, or a pause from faster backpacker circuits. Mario and the family-run setup give the hostel a warm, low-key rhythm. The common areas are the main event: hammocks, sofas, chess or board games, a foosball table, a shared kitchen, free coffee, and enough corners to read, work, cool off, or fall into a conversation without forced party-hostel energy.
