Bed bug reports

Last week, we went as a group to Edinburgh and needed a cheap place to stay. Upon arival in the 21 bed dorm, a somewhat peculiar guy was with his bare feet still making up the beds. When unpacking we noticed much dust and old socks underneath the beds in our room. Cleanliness of the rooms was a bit to be desired. On multiple days, when waking up and going to the bathroom in the morning, the same peculiar guy who was making up the beds the first day was actively waiting in the hallway for guys to have a talk with anyone not wearing full pants. Walking from our dorm to the bath room in just boxers and a t-shirt was deemed "inappropriate behavior" to him, and it was required to wear pants at all times. The whole situation felt awkward. Next to being awkward, it was inconvenient as well, since there were only 2 little hooks in the showers to place everything you bring in. Finally, when going home after our trip, some of our group were diagnosed by their GP with bed bugs, explaining the itchiness some felt during our stay. All in all, while the price and location are luring, stay away from this place.

The worst hostel I have ever stayed in! This place was dirty and cramped the other people staying there were rude and difficult. I’m worried it had bed bugs as I’ve woken up itchy and will be taking precautions to make sure I don’t transport them home. My roomates started verbally fighting at 2am. The bathrooms were so dirty and disgusting I didn’t want to take a shower. The kitchen was dirty and cramped and even the drinking water provided from a dispenser looked horrible and I wouldn’t drink it. At about 2.30 am when I had been trying and failing to fall asleep since 11 I realised I had made a mistake. People were constantly coming in and out of the rooms and the whole stack of bunk beds shook loads whenever anyone so much as rolled over. I cannot express enough that people should not stay there. I’ve stayed in hostels around Europe and this was by far my worst experience.

The location is the only good thing about this hostel. The service was fine, people are okay and gave us all the information we needed. But the rooms... We got a 12 people room. 6 bunk beds, the room is so small you can barely turn around. No storage space or lockers, but each bunk bed got A CHAIR. The room smeels like feet and mold, since the window is open only 1h every day. The showers were a mess, temperature of the water impossible to control. Beds squeaky. No bed bugs, at least.

Bed bugs everywhere. Woman that runs this place is so rude, please don’t stay here, worst decision of your life if you stay here. The beds stink and the mattresses are mouldy and blood stains all over the beds

The rooms smells bad, the toilets are in bad conditions, the showers didn't have hot water and no heating (in winter) the beds are so small that I hit my head to get up when I woke up. Luckily I didn't get bedbugs because the mattress and bed sheets were so old. Definitely won't visit it again.

The staff and service were great . I stayed 3 nights there and got bitten by bedbugs. There was no place to store gear in the dorm or food in the kitchen. It seems like the bottom sheets are cleaned but not the duvet or the pillow cases
