room: 4 person dorm. small but cosy. bring your own lock. beds are clean, no bed bugs and air conditioning was sweet relief in the Bangkok heat. bring an eye mask if you want to sleep in because the sun comes into the room at around 8am. door lock felt very safe. toilet: 3 shower cubicles with 2 hooks each. shelf outside to put your toiletries. 3 toilet cubicles with hose/ bidet (much needed). toilet is well maintained and there’s constant air flow to dry the wet areas. no smell. i had such a great time meeting wonderful people in the courtyard and the staff were so warm and helpful. there was also evening yoga on one of the days. there’s sufficient vegetarian food in the area with a 7-eleven nearby. breakfast of fresh tropical fruits, yoghurt and bread is also available. location felt safe. would highly recommend and stay here again the next time i’m in bangkok!

If you want to get infected with bed bugs, go there. This is my leg after one night staying there on my second day in Thailand. I reported it and they only changed the sheets. So it’s still there :)

Vibe Analysis
The leafy yard is the center of the hostel: a calm outdoor space with places to sit, eat breakfast, read, or meet other travelers. The mood is social but not party-heavy, and it suits solo travelers who want an easy, relaxed base in Bangkok. Breakfast is a real strength, with fresh fruit, bread, sweet bits, and generous plates. Staff can be warm and practical, with local food tips around Ari and help with small travel problems. The hostel also has useful touches like filtered-water refills, shampoo in showers, a book exchange, laundry, and occasional yoga or Muay Thai activities. Ari is quieter than the main tourist zones, with cafes, restaurants, bars, massage spots, ATMs, convenience stores, and BTS access nearby. It is not the best base for walking to Bangkok's big sights, and late-night trips may mean Grab, taxi, or tuk-tuk time. Rooms are simple and can be tight, especially dorms and private rooms. The container-style build gives the place character, but it can also mean thin walls, door noise, heat, and uneven air-conditioning.
Signals to check
- Dorms and private rooms can be small, bare, and poorly insulated; noise from doors, stairs, the courtyard, nearby music, and early-morning activity can affect sleep.
- Cleanliness is inconsistent, especially bathrooms, showers, kitchen areas, bedding, and outdoor tables; a recent bedbug issue is a risk to ask about before booking.
- Private rooms may feel poor value compared with Bangkok hotels, with limited furniture, weak curtains, hard or worn mattresses, and shared bathrooms in some setups.
- Mosquitoes, ants, heat, and uneven air-conditioning can be an issue, especially around bathrooms, common areas, and container-style rooms.
