Mobay Kotch is set inside an old brick mansion in downtown Montego Bay, with big rooms, wood floors, large windows, and a back courtyard that does a lot of the social heavy lifting. It is close to Harmony Beach, supermarkets, restaurants, fast food, buses, and route taxis, so it works best for independent backpackers who want the city center right outside the gate. The courtyard is the main hangout: benches, tables, music, cold Red Stripe, and a kitchen nearby. Pickapeppa and Jerkie, the resident dog and cat, are part of the house personality, though the dog is a real consideration if you are not comfortable around large dogs. Inside, expect simple budget-hostel basics rather than polished hotel comfort. Rooms can be spacious and clean, beds are often comfortable, bathrooms are shared, and the kitchen is useful for cooking. Vanessa and the team can be warm and helpful, with airport pickup or taxi help sometimes available.
