Confirmed Hostelworld
Watch out, there's Bed bugs in the male room... Pros: free Towels, very spacious beds, beautiful rooftop terrace and kitchen okayish equipped, nice Asado-gatherings every now and then Cons: Bed Bugs, a lot of Cockroaches in the kitchen, vibe was little weird when I was there, there's more long-term people than travellers

Vibe Analysis
Mediterraneo Hostal is a central, budget Asuncion base with unusually large dorm beds: wide mattresses, privacy curtains, personal lights, outlets, and enough berth space to feel less boxed-in than a typical dorm. Air conditioning and strong Wi-Fi can make it useful for hot days, work time, or a cheap reset near the historic center. The rooftop terrace is one of the better parts of the place, with room to sit outside, stretch, sunbathe, or drink a cheap beer. There is also a courtyard, a coworking or study area, free drinking water, towels, laundry that may be cheap, and a kitchen that works for simple meals. The resident cats are part of the scene, cute for cat people and a real problem for anyone with allergies. The vibe is inconsistent. It can feel calm, friendly, and respectful, with helpful staff and occasional asado nights, but it can also swing into late noise, smoking in common areas, long-term residents, and a social setup that is not always backpacker-friendly. The location is practical for walking to central sights, shops, markets, and cultural spots, though the surrounding area may feel rough or not especially lively at night. This is not a polished hostel. Bathrooms, showers, lighting, kitchen capacity, cleanliness, insects, door noise, and staff visibility are recurring weak spots. Pick it for the big private-feeling beds, price, rooftop, Wi-Fi, and central access; skip it if hygiene, quiet, bathroom comfort, or a reliably social backpacker scene matter most.
