Giramundo Hostel Purmamarca
Vibe Analysis
Giramundo Hostel Purmamarca is a small, artsy base in a very handy spot, close to the bus terminal, taxis for Salinas, and the central plaza. The place has colorful decor, a pleasant patio and terrace, and in some rooms or balcony areas there are mountain views. Cats and dogs are part of the house atmosphere, and the hostel can feel relaxed, social, and a bit improvised. There is usually music around the common areas, and the mood works best for travelers who like an informal, lived-in hostel rather than a polished hotel setup. The kitchen is a real plus: large, useful, and generally good for cooking. Breakfast is simple and varies in how satisfying it feels, with fruit, bread, coffee, or small pastries appearing at different times. Staff can be warm and helpful with local plans, though service and communication are not always consistent. Comfort is the tradeoff. Beds and pillows may be thin, soft, sagging, or awkward to climb into, and some bathrooms are outside or semi-outdoor, which can be rough on cold nights. Giramundo is best for a short, location-first stop in Purmamarca if price, payment terms, and basic facilities are clear before arrival.
Signals to check
- Beds and pillows may be uncomfortable, especially in dorm bunks.
- Bathrooms and showers may be outside, cold at night, or in need of maintenance.
- Card payments, IVA, deposits, or cash requirements may add friction or extra cost.
- Noise from music, common areas, the street, or early buses may affect sleep.
- Cleanliness and upkeep seem inconsistent, especially around bathrooms, kitchen items, and animal smells.
