Good hostel for one night! The beds are really comfortable and the staff are incredibly friendly. There were NO bedbugs and the dormitory was very clean. You can also wash your laundry there at a reasonable price. I didn't think the location was that great and unfortunately the bathrooms weren't clean or as shown in the pictures. It's also not a social hostel.

The last reviews on hostelworld talked about bed bugs, that's definitely not a problem anymore. But the blanket smelled like men's parfum and was definitely not washed after use and had no cover on. The bathroom feels dirty. The owner on the other hand is super friendly and nice. There is a washing machine that you can use. No towels. If the blanket wasn't dirty I'd say if you stay one night to take the ferry the next day it's more than sufficient.

Stayed there on May 22 and ended up having to get a motel room for the night due to bed bugs on every bed in the room.

BEDBUGS - Stayed March 31/2025. Noticed bugs as I was sitting in bed. It was already later than check In, so the owner was gone and no way to contact him. I moved beds in hopes that it was just one bed. I waited for a while and sure enough more appeared. I couldn’t get ahold of him. I ended up sleeping on the benches in the reception area two floors below. Thankfully I don’t think they got into my bag, but beware. No refund was offered and he did not seem surprised by the bugs.

Young Money Hostel is a Surat Thani transit stop, not a scene machine. It works best for one night before a ferry, flight, or onward bus: the beds can be comfortable and private, the rooms can be clean, and the staff/owner energy is often kind and practical. There is also a bedbug history from 2025, with later rooms looking cleaner, so a quick bed check is still part of the ritual.
