Sandy Bottoms Hostel

My experience started badly at check-in: no one was there to receive me, and the instructions were sent through WhatsApp. I only entered to leave my suitcase, and when I returned, the manager communicated in a passive-aggressive way. Management is rarely present, and the hostel operates with very little supervision. Despite Google reviews mentioning bedbugs, I did not have this problem, but I recommend checking the bed on arrival. Towels are provided free of charge. However, the cleaning is superficial: the floor cloths and the towel around the shower area looked as if they had not been washed for a long time. One day, the shower flooded because the water would not drain, and there was no staff member available to help. Security and organisation are poor. Non-guests were allowed inside, some behaved badly, and the house rules were not properly enforced. I did not feel safe with strangers constantly entering and leaving, and the hostel was also very noisy. The kitchen is disorganised, with no proper food containers, labels, enough knives or decent utensils. My food was stolen twice. Despite the convenient location, I would not recommend staying unless you absolutely don’t have a place to stay. The lack of cleanliness, security and support makes the stay uncomfortable, and if something serious happens, guests will likely have to deal with it alone. !!!!!! ALSO I mentioned the fact some outsiders were inside the property making a complete mess and the staff said: IF YOU WERE BOTHERED ENOUGH YOU WOULD’VE CALLED THE POLICE. (((( DONT STAY AT THIS PLACE AS IS NOT SAFE AND THERES NO ONE TO HELP YOU

Horrific experience. Beds infested with bed bugs, filthy bathrooms and broken lockers. Booked through air bnb and only after did I see the awful bed bugs reviews on places like Booking and Expedia. We arrived late after travelling and after a few minutes in bed, it was so bad that we decided we couldn’t sleep there. Since it was well after midnight we couldn’t book something else via air bnb, nor could we get any support from them or the host & so we ventured out to try and find a hotel somewhere at 3am. I ended up getting robbed and my phone stolen. The host denied all claims of infestation despite our mountains of video and photo evidence & made the refund process a nightmare with air bnb. Luckily after weeks of persistence, shared photos/videos and screenshots of other reviews with similar claims, we got our full money back. I would steer FAR away from this place, despite its convenient location. It’s not clean, you’ll get covered in bites and your belongings will get infested with bugs. And the worst part is the host will not care to try to help one bit. I hesitated in leaving this review for the simple fact I’m forced to still give 1 star. This is a 0 star establishment.

BETTWANZEN BEFALL (20.09.25) Leider habe ich die Bewertungen über den Befall zu spät gesehen und musste es am eigenen Leib erfahren. In Zimmer orange herrscht Bettwanzen befall. Ich konnte meine Buchung über Airbnb stornieren und erstatten lassen. Unabhängig von den Bettwanzen sind die Bäder leider unglaublich dreckig. Die Zimmer sind so vollgestellt mit Betten, dass man quasi mit den Füßen am Kopf der Nachbarin liegt. Nachts sind die Zimmer leider super laut wegen der partymeile die nur eine Straße weiter ist.

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Woke up covered in bites from BED BUGS, with severe itching and swelling, on the eve of my birthday. Completely ruined my stay. Management did nothing to help. Do not stay here!
