I stayed one night at this hostel, the staff were very friendly, helpful, and the atmosphere was nice. However, I got BEDBUGS. Now I have to throw away my backpack and will likely need to get rid of all of my clothes that came along with me. Overall, I’m very unsatisfied with the cleanliness of my bed, bedbugs should never happen in any hostel. It makes traveling so expensive when having to replace all clothes and bags.

Bettwanzen Alarm! Einmal und niewieder! Waren nur 1 Tag dort. Ganze Nacht hat unser Körper gejuckt, kein Wunder, am nächsten Tag mehrere tote Bettwanzen gefunden! Mehr als ein“Wir leiten es weiter“ kam vom Personal nicht! Richtig ekliges Hotel.

War hier auf Klassenfahrt und hatte eine wirklich schlechte Erfahrung. Zwei Zimmer hatten Bettwanzen Befall, was hier scheinbar nicht unüblich ist, wir die Angestellten in der nächsten Apotheke uns verrieten. Unsere Wäsche, die ja möglicher Weise auf den Betten lag, hätten selber waschen müssen, hätte sich ein Lehrer nicht dafür eingesetzt, dass wir das vorher geplante und bezahlte Programm mit machen dürfen. Dieser Lehrer hat auch dafür gesorgt, dass wir nicht selbst für das Wäsche waschen bezahlen müssen. Das Personal war zwar nicht gemein, aber unvorbereitet, uninformiert und desinteressiert an unseren Problemen. Dieser Vorfall war im August 2024. Nach den aktuellsten Bewertungen sind die Bettwanzen aber immer noch auf und munter. Absolut nicht zu empfehlen.

Check in from 3pm but our room wasn’t ready till 5:30pm. Then when we got to the room we found the charging ports and reading lights didn’t work. Wanted to do our washing however went to find the dryer was out of order. Was awoken one night at 11pm by two people coming into our room shouting, then another 15 mins later a member of staff came in to check who was in what bed, clearly must have overbooked the room. Also left with a lot of red marks on my body hoping it’s not bedbugs!

I read in an online review that this place has bedbugs, after I had already booked. I called to ask whether they have bedbugs, and they confirmed in a very casual tone that yes, they do have bedbugs. It's great that they are honest, but why haven't they done anything about this if they are fully aware of the problem!!?? It's disgusting that they just keep renting out rooms knowing that they are spreading an infestation to their guests' houses.

a&o Dortmund Hauptbahnhof is mainly a practical crash pad beside Dortmund's main station, close to the city center, shops, food, public transport, Brückstraße, and airport bus links. It can work for a cheap one-night stop, late train arrival, match trip, or quick city base when location matters more than comfort. The lobby and common areas can be useful for waiting, working, or sitting around after checkout, and breakfast is sometimes decent with enough choice.
