Kookaburra Holiday Park

Kookaburra Holiday Park is a basic Cardwell stopover with its strongest pull in the location: close to the beach, cafes, eateries, supermarket, and the Bruce Highway. It works best as a practical one-night break for travellers who mainly need a bed, parking, and simple self-catering rather than a polished holiday-park setup. The better units can be roomy, clean, air-conditioned, and useful for a quick reset, with kitchenettes or self-cooking facilities, laundry access, BBQ access, and trailer or boat parking depending on the room and area. The villa or studio side seems much more comfortable than the budget/backpacker side, which can feel like a different property. The pool is a major uncertainty rather than a reliable perk. It has been fantastic at times, but it has also been dirty, brown, closed, or out of action. Maintenance and cleanliness are uneven too: issues include dated cabins, broken doors or locks, missing flyscreens or kettles, weak kitchen gear, dirty shared bathrooms, plumbing smells, insects, bed bugs, and noisy fridges or highway traffic. Reception may be limited, especially later in the day, and check-in or payment can be confusing. This is a low-frills, variable stopover choice, not a place to book for atmosphere or a social hostel scene.
