BEDBUGS! 🪲 I booked for 3 nights but had to leave after 1 after waking up with around 40 bed bug bites all over my arms, chest, neck and FACE! I tried to contact the owner 3 times that day with no responds which is unacceptable. I did however receive a refund the next day (for the 2 nights I didn’t use) after threatening to involve the health department. There are several other reports of bed bugs from July, August, September & October 2025 so the owner is well aware. The furniture and house itself are also very run down.

There were a lot of ants in the kitchen which I've seen in more places in Spain, it was really hot, so I could handle that. The kitchen was big but everyone uses it so the fridge was a bit dirty, but this was more due to the other guests. I did however leave the property before even spending a night. There were two beds in my room, and I found bed bugs in both of them so I didn't want to sleep there. I contacted the owner but got no response. So I left and found a clean place to sleep at a different property. Never heard anything back from the owner so I wouldn't recommended this place. There was also no one there to check me in when I arrived.

Gracias

Unfortunately in one of the rooms in the middle of the night we discovered bed bugs crawling all over the bed, sheets and the skin. It was 3 am and nowhere to go so our friends didn't sleep all night after their discovery. In the morning they had multiple visible bites and we complained to the kind receptionist. As you can imagine now view or low nightly rate is worth all the hassle that comes with bed bugs. For the rest of our holiday we had to keep our clothes tightly packed and treated to avoid bringing it home.

Got 50+ bedbug bites, after looking at the most recent reviews, other people had the same problem and reported it to the owner, who clearly hasn't done anything about it and is letting people still stay in the infested room. Criminal. Now I have to treat all my clothes to try and not spread the infestation. I will be reporting it to the local tourism authority.

When we woke up in the morning, my girlfriend had 43 bed bug bites on her body. Upon investigation, we found a living bed bug on the mattress and the shell of another one. Surely there were more, but we didn’t stick around to find out. We had to go to an urgent care medical clinic due to the allergic reaction that my girlfriend had to so many bites. We incurred clinic costs, prescription medicine costs, and laundry costs, quickly cancelling out our savings from the cheap apartment and eating up a day of exploring. We informed the host via WhatsApp about the issue and never received a response. We informed the cleaning lady who was on site and she immediately got defensive and suggested that we had brought the bed bugs in ourselves. What felt like further salt in the wound is a review on Booking.com dated on the day of our check-in describing a guest finding “army” of bed bugs in the room. This review (which we discovered after the bed bug attack) makes us fear that the host knew about the bed bugs beforehand and still gave us the room with telling us - and with the host’s lack of response, this seems even more likely what happened.

Bed bugs! An army of massive bed bugs - obviously we didn't stay there after finding them. The owner was understanding and returned the whole sum we had paid.

BED BUGS BEWARE.. i wish i could like this place because its a great little town to visit.. very beautiful. The location is ideal with an amazing view, but i woke up at 2 am with itchy feet.. turned on the light and voila, i was not alone in bed.. Heating didn't work, tried all the possible settings on the remote.. after my scare with my little blood sucking friend, I tried to sleep on the kitchen chairs, freezing my butt off. I told the land lady in the morning what happened, and she said that it couldn't possibly be because she cleans the rooms everyday.. until I showed her a picture. Her tune changed.. and said sorry and that she would fumagate the place. Well that was all. I left, no sleep, no money back and horrible bug bites/paranoia. It's cheap, but not worth the headache!

We find 2 bed bugs in the bed. One bathroom for 8 people like a hostel(3 separate rooms shared the bathroom). We couldn't adjust the temperature of the Air condition due to malfunction so at one point we opened the window so we can sleep with normal temperature. Our room was at the basement and we didn't have Wifi singal at some moments we had one line of signal in the room for one minute or something and the signal was lost again. For wifi we had to sit at the edge of the balcony were we had two lines and for full signal we had to go to the upper floor were the kitchen was.

Vibe Analysis

Casa Duende del Tajo is basically a front-row seat to Ronda’s Puente Nuevo and the gorge. The terrace and some rooms look straight at the bridge, and the old-town location puts bars, restaurants, shops, and the main sightseeing zone close by. The setup is more spare guesthouse than polished hostel. There can be shared kitchen, living room, terrace, and bathroom access, with some rooms using one bathroom across multiple rooms. A larger apartment-style layout and kitchen may be useful for a short, cheap stop focused on the view. The tradeoff is serious: the building feels old and under-maintained, with recurring problems around bathrooms, hot water, damp or mold smells, heating and A/C, thin walls, tired beds, and cleanliness. Bed bugs have been a repeated issue, including in 2025, so this is a high-risk pick unless the property has clearly fixed that.
