Bakki Hostel & Apartments
Vibe Analysis
Bakki Hostel & Apartments is a quiet Eyrarbakki base right by the Atlantic, with Selfoss close enough for groceries and south Iceland day trips. It leans more practical than party: clean modern rooms or apartments, easy parking, and enough space to cook, unpack, and reset between drives. The strongest setup is the self-catering side. Apartments and studios can have well-equipped kitchens or kitchenettes, coffee and tea, comfortable beds, good heating, Wi-Fi, and sometimes Netflix. The hostel side has dorm beds, lockers, a roomy shared kitchen, and a common room with TV, books, magazines, board games, and even a shared computer. The coast is the real personality here. The ocean is a very short walk away, sunsets can be excellent, and the low-light village setting can work beautifully for northern lights nights. The nearby gas station and small shop make the remote-feeling location easier, while the local restaurant keeps dinner from becoming a logistics puzzle.
Signals to check
- Rooms vary a lot: some face parking, an alley, a warehouse, or an industrial courtyard instead of the sea.
- Bathroom ventilation, drainage, mold, and dampness can be weak spots.
- Cleanliness is inconsistent, especially in bathrooms, kitchens, switches, and small corners.
- Some rooms have poor blackout setup, glass doors, or too much light for easy sleep in bright months.
- The village is very quiet, so a car helps if you want shops, nightlife, or flexible sightseeing.
