Bed bug reports

Bed bug infestation. Mattresses were not clean and bed bugs were visible. Bites were everywhere on all three of our guests. A disastrous stay to say the least. Ruined the rest of our trip having to deal with welts and bites.

Bed Bugs in two of the beds of the room that we reserved, it was reported and a new room was given to us. Unfortunately as soon as we checked the new beds, one of them was dirty (bloodstain and some kind of dust) below the beds sheet. We decided to leave and look for a new hotel. Additionally: When we arrived at mid day, we were not well treated by the hotel reptionist... cold and ugly questions from her... it was reported to the supervisor when we decided to leave the location after 7 pm.

Hostel wasn't clean, rooms were very tiny and very poorly ventilated. Beds were uncomfortable and likely had bed bugs.

Next House is an affordable hostel in a good location in Copenhagen. However this comes with a catch: Its rooms are incredibly tiny, dirty and ventilation is non-existent. You will survive the night feeling packed like sardines rather than having a good sleep. On top of this, our room had bed bugs and we noticed this way too late. Cleaning our belongings and our apartment cost us a lot of money and stress, overall our brief stay at Next House was a terrible experience. I emailed them about this and our communication was fine, they also refunded me the amount for our stay, but that's all the positives I can say about them. I don't recommend this hostel, unfortunately feeling like being milked for cash is common both in Next House and in Copenhagen.

Unfortunately, even with great location hostel is more than bad... Stuff is totally unfriendly, rooms and bathrooms are dirty, there was mold and dirt on the walls, windowsill, shower... Beds are tiny and as we found out at the end of our 3-day trip - they had bedbugs. Big mattresses and totally tiny space are not helping to remain it clean...

It was a bit inconvenient that they didn't serve other food than pizza after 19:00. One of the people in our room also found marks in her body after our stay, as if there had been bedbugs on her bed... It's a shame because otherwise I would have recommended this hostel to everyone

The pillow was extra uncomfortable and firm, I had troubles falling asleep because of it. The stairs to bunk bed were dangerous for me and I almost slipped when walking downstairs. They were without any railing, just three steps. The fact that I had to pay to have access to the kitchen because I just wanted hot water for my tea is really discouraging. Kitchen closes at midnight so when I got back later I had no access to it. There is also no space to even dry your towel after shower so it was still humid next day. If you want to get a new fresh towel you have to pay extra. But what was the most upsetting for me were the bedbugs on my bunk bed. They bit me all over my body and it’s still itching. I will not recommend this place.

For me the only advantage was the localization, because all the interesting spots were in the nearest area. Found a bug by the bed. And when i search for another bugs i found many dirty stuffs by the linen. I even need to search it up in case that was a bed bug. I'm already exhausted by long travel time, trying to get some rest early at the hotel. But ended up have to make a major cleaning attempt late at night. I have videos of the bug, but apparently i only could upload photos.

I was bit by bed bugs here. Woke up with 3-4 big bites. Which means it’s dirty! Also theres this fake superficial “party” vibe with a ton of people. Check in is STRICTLY at 3. All in all, avoid if you can.

It was not clean place. When I was talking to a girl in the hostel restaurant, I noticed that bed bugs attacked her and she had to change her room.

In our room, the bathroom has a strong smell of vomit/alcohol, can't describe how horrible the odour is! But it is not a pleasant smells! Room is small, we have 1 big luggage and 1 small luggage, it's difficult to open all at the same time but we managed and no problem for us (this is hostel, so i think that's the standard ) After 1st night, my wife and I had itchy few red spots in our body, can't tell if it's this is from their towels or bed sheets or bed bugs. I can say their towels aren't freshly clean or maybe it is an old towels.

I stayed on the fifth floor in an all women’s room and I’m fairly sure there were bed bugs. I left with bites on my arms and face. I saw some other reviews mention bed bugs in March. Rooms were small but not too bad. It would have been great to have had more hooks or places to put luggage other than the floor — especially now knowing there were bugs. Lockers are very small in the rooms. The gym was very nice and well equipped. If there hadn’t been bugs, it would have been a good experience.

The building is nice and renovated and the rooms are clean, if a bit tiny, especially the bathroom. However because of the design of the rooms, i.e the pod-like beds, it is hard to check for bed bugs. Now I do not know if it was bed bugs, but in a two night stay with my friends, the one who slept under my bunk woke up with bug bites that had not been there before going to bed. The next night I wake up with some bites resembling that of bed bug bites. There was only one guy in the service crew I had met that was actually a stand up guy, the rest very obviously disliked their job and thought of it's guests as inconveniences. Expect to stand by the reception and hold eye contact with some receptionists whilst they gossip amongst themselves.

Amazing location, only 5 minute walk from Train station and Tivoli. Staff are really nice and helpful! However I had a bed in a four person dorm room and there was a large opening between the bathroom door and the wall meaning you could see into the bathroom, and the bathroom door didn’t lock. There was also bed bugs in my and other people in the room’s beds, and I woke up with several bites.

Room had bed bugs and lots of little pieces of hair all over the sheets, soap dispenser, and floors. I’m highly reactive to bed bugs and this was my very first night on a six month sabbatical. Disappointing way to start things off. Hostel did put us in a new room, but had a disappointingly nonchalant attitude about the seriousness of the situation. Aside from the cleanliness issues and bed bugs, it was a very cool hostel with lots of shared areas and a fun vibe.

Bed Bugs :( So for the first time in my life i experienced bed bugs. I was absolutely Eaten alive in the middle of the night even though the bed seemed clean. I woke up itching uncontrollably and when i went to check in bathroom i had bites all over me. I went down and staff moved me to another room, I inspected my backpack because i had the backpack in the bed with me and i found a bed bug actually crawling on it. I have developed an extremely severe reaction to the bites and had to ho to the hospital toda

Like any other traveler, you want to like the place you’re staying at; especially given the price, however, Next Door was more than a disappointment. Instead of a lengthy review I will just list aspects both my friends and I witnessed during our stay. 1. BED BUGS 2. Pubic hair EVERYWHERE (I’m talking towels, sheets…) 3. Incredibly tiny room 4. Just plain dirty. URINE STAINS everywhere on the blanket once you lift up the duvet 5. Unfortunately rude staff I do not recommend.

Vibe Analysis
A bus to the airport stops right outside Next House Copenhagen, and Copenhagen Central Station, Tivoli, city walks, trains, and metro links are close enough to keep logistics easy. This is a huge, modern, campus-style hostel with a rooftop, lounges, bars, big common areas, games, bike rental, yoga or pilates, and other activities that can make the building feel busy from morning to night. The best version of this place is social, active, and very convenient: grab a drink, watch a match, sit on the rooftop, join an activity, or use it as a launchpad for the city. It suits short Copenhagen trips, younger travelers, and anyone who wants facilities and movement more than a quiet little backpacker den. The tradeoff is real. Rooms are extremely small, with tight pod-style beds, tiny bathrooms, limited storage, little floor space for luggage, and sometimes weak privacy from missing curtains or awkward bathroom doors. The hostel can also feel more like a large automated hotel than an easy solo-traveler hangout, and many extras can cost more than expected.
Signals to check
- Rooms can be very cramped, hot, noisy, and short on storage.
- Kitchen access, luggage lockers, fresh towels, games, gym use, and activities may cost extra.
- Cleanliness is inconsistent, including recent bed-bug, dust, mold, drain, and bathroom issues.
- Staff help can be mixed, especially around check-in problems, lost belongings, room issues, refunds, and late-night concerns.
- The large scale can make socializing feel hectic or oddly impersonal.
