Amsterdam Hostel Uptown

Sep 25 - Bed bugs - nightmare to sort - rude manager. Do not stay - which is a real shame given the wonderful location.

Upon arrival, the hostel lost our booking and kept telling my group we needed to pay more than the online price we were quoted and only accepted cash. After eventually sucking it up, the staff assigned us all to separate rooms less than we booked. Twice during the night, the front desk man came into (1AM and 5AM) the room abruptly slamming the door, turning the lights on, and telling me I have to pay for being in the wrong room. What happened was the front desk worker before gave me the wrong key for the room, but they would never admit their mistake and instead say they are doing me a “favor” by allowing me to pay them for their services. They proceeded to once again take more money for sleeping in a bed that was due to their mistakes. This place was absolutely horrendous from the inadequate facilities to the absolutely disrespectful and harassing style of staffing. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

I didn't like that the bathroom had no hooks in the bathroom or mat on the bathroom floor,I am a girl and being in a hostel sharing with people the only privacy is the bathroom the floor is just slippy and soaked, trying to balance your clothes on things that's doesn't work so they end up soaked too, also there was bed bugs , pics don't show all bites, some pic where when I got home.

Lecho de pulgas Pasamos dos noches allí , en las que recibimos numerosos picotazos tumbados , dudamos de árañas, pulgas o chinches , se apreciaba una dejadez en la limpieza , el baño es una fuente de coger hongos e infecciones , la falta de ventilación de la habitación la hacía parecer una sauna , era imposible cerrar o abrir la ventana , la cual estaba sujeta con una botella para evitar que se bajara , para no volver sin insecticida y sin mascarilla

Abysmal customer service with no respect for the people who unfortunately choose this place to stay. Black mold, bugs (it has to be bed bugs) all over the bedding with black mold growing in the corners of the room and next to my bed. At least its close to the main attractions but still, would never wish this place upon anyone. Again THE CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM THESE PEOPLE ARE TERRIBLE.

It is very bad hostel. And Services is really fuking bad. Bed are uncomfortable, and very small. To talk about the facillity, there is no space in washroom, no place to hang your clothes. The stairs was very dangerous. There is no elevator. It was horrible experience, the room missing the essential things like; no tv room, no chairs and tables, no light at beds, very bad Wifi, and no locker to keep your thing safe Really bad receptionist, and there only cash payment, and there is no storge room to keep your bags. .however, there is horrible smell with bed bugs. In my advice, stay away!!!! , it was my worst hostel have been experienced so far. if there is less than zero I would give it.

Zählte 220€ für 3 Nächte - inklusive BETTWANZEN! Danke für Nichts. (Ehrlicher Tipp: nie buchen und nie dort schlafen. Ich eine sehr leicht zufriedenzustellende Person und kann mich mit fast allem arrangieren, aber Bettwanzen ist einfach zu viel.)

Stayed here for 2 nights, got bitten extensively by bed bugs! The hostel was filthy and the bathroom was disgusting as it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. Rooms are very small and hot. No lockable storage. No common area. No laundry facilities. Breakfast was not in the building but around the corner at another hostel (jam toast and cold coffee). Only good things were the location was close to attractions and the staff were quite friendly.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Far too long. Bathrooms in rooms with close to no ventilation, rude manager who charged us an extra 30 euro each for checking out an hour too late (despite they had no future bookings). Cramped rooms, bed bugs, and general uncleanliness. Wouldn't stay again even if it was half the price. (which was far too much in itself).

It was AWFUL. the room smelled like cat urine and there were bed bugs!! Both my friend and I were bit a bunch of times, I had over 80 bites all over my body. NOT worth the money. I would much rather pay a good amount more than in that shithole. The manager was so rude, too, but the other two who worked in the reception were nice. Also a decent location, but still not worth it.
