Bed bug reports

There were only mixed dorms, as for a girl it turned out to be not very comfortable, cause few guys snorted all night long 🥲

I stayed here for two nights, and the kitchen was decent. Another plus was the convenience of a single digital code to unlock all the doors. The only downside was the bathroom door—it was too low, and I hit my head twice. But despite that, I would still stay here again. Also, the place was clean, and I didn’t encounter any bed bugs during my stay.

Pros- Great location, good price, and comfortable room. Cons- BEDBUGS. All the positives in the world don't outweigh bedbugs. I emailed them twice about it and never heard back, so I assume it's still a problem. I would AVOID this place for the time being until the bedbugs are cleared. Update- Even taking precautions and washing everything as soon as we got home. We ended up with bedbugs. We just FINALLY got rid of them over a month later. It was an absolute nightmare. This place responded to my saying they threw out the bedding. That is NOT good enough. The entire rooms need to be heat treated and diatomaceous earth used as well. There isn't a chance that a hostel is going to deal with that, so avoid this place!

Vibe Analysis
Old Town Munkenhof is a cheap, central Tallinn Old Town base for sleeping close to the main sights, the port walk, restaurants, and the old city core. The location is the clear win, and check-in can be straightforward with door codes rather than keys. The hostel has a kitchen, lounge areas, lockers, and a basic old-building setup. Rooms can be clean and functional, with decent bedding in better cases, but comfort varies a lot by room: thin or hard mattresses, joined single beds sold as doubles, hot or cold rooms, weak ventilation, smells, and tired bathrooms all appear in the pattern. Noise is the big tax here. Doors, lockers, corridors, street sound, neighboring rooms, church bells, and late-night partying can make sleep rough, even with earplugs. Reception is not reliably present late at night, so problems after hours can feel very unsupported. The access-code setup is practical when it works, but it also creates real safety concerns. Door-code mixups, rooms opening unexpectedly, and weak after-hours support make this a poor fit for anyone who needs calm, privacy, or staff backup at night.
Signals to check
- Reception may be closed or hard to reach outside daytime hours.
- Noise insulation is weak, and late-night corridor or room noise can be a serious sleep problem.
- Bathrooms and showers can be limited, dated, or not on the same floor as the room.
- Kitchen and shared areas may feel worn, dirty, or under-equipped.
- Door-code access can feel insecure, especially in mixed dorms or private rooms.
