It was just terrible experience I ever have. They have bedbugs and I got many bites from them for one night. I had to wash all clothes, bags and all my belongings. It’s going to be lots of trouble and I have to fight them. Also There were exactly no one at my check in time And they didn’t pick my call for long hours so I had to change my plan. I can’t recommend here.

Bed bug hole.in my left leg after one night. Calm hostel, no game room, so it's impossible to socialise there.

Vibe Analysis
The rooftop deck is the best actual hangout here, giving Little Drifter Canberra a city-view breather above an otherwise very functional building. The other big win is location: it sits close to Canberra Centre, bus stops, the coach terminal, shops, supermarkets, food options, and easy city walking routes. This is more central crash-pad than classic backpacker chaos-lab. There is a communal kitchen, shared bathrooms, dorms and private rooms, and a digital access setup. Certain dorm bunks have curtains, power, reading lights, a small shelf, and under-bed lockers, while other room setups can feel more basic. The social side seems weak. The crowd can skew older or long-term, common areas can feel flat, and making friends may be hard. It can work for a short Canberra stop where location matters most, but it is a shaky pick for a party trip, a polished private-room stay, or anyone needing quiet, strong service, and smooth facilities.
Signals to check
- No onsite parking, and nearby paid parking can fill up.
- Shared bathrooms can be dirty, smelly, crowded, or short on toilet paper.
- Hot water can be unreliable, with showers switching cold or too hot.
- Noise is a real risk from doors, hallways, common areas, street activity, trucks, and thin windows.
- Room temperature can be hard to manage because air conditioning or heating may need reception help.
- Digital check-in and app-based locks can be confusing or fail at awkward times.
- Reception coverage and staff help can be inconsistent.
- Kitchen equipment, Wi-Fi, TV setup, laundry payment, towels, and luggage storage may be limited or cost extra.
