Although the hostel has an ingenious concept to save costs by mattresses that have waterproof covers (fortunately it wasn't too hot) of beds that can be made and unmade by the guests, so very few personell for such a big hostel, the price of €30 for an 8 bedded room in the weekend, was including a breakfast that had apples or old oranges being the only fresh food. No cucumber, onion, tomatoes or salad.

I woke up at around 2am due to itching and found bed bugs on my arms and also on my pillow. It was horrible and I have loads of itchy spots. This was not acceptable to have bed bugs and it ruined my trip to Belgium. Needless to say, I did not have a good night sleep on my one night, and resorted to sleeping on the floor due to the bugs. This was my first ever experience with actually seeing bed bugs and while there were not loads, they certainly left their mark. It is a hostel definitely on the more expensive end of hostels that I have stayed and even with breakfast, my experience was absolutely not worth it. To make it worse, there were no staff working at all the following morning as they were not to begin until 2.30pm, meaning I was unable to inform anyone. Bed bugs in one bed may indicate they are in others too. It's not worth the breakfast, I don't recommend it

Charleroi Youth Hostel funciona mejor como una parada practica junto a la estacion Charleroi-Central, las conexiones de bus y los enlaces al aeropuerto. El edificio es moderno, luminoso y centrico, con una configuracion util para una noche antes o despues de viajar. La planta comun es la parte con mas vida: hay una zona tipo bar con sofas, musica, pool, futbolin y ping-pong. Puede ser un lugar decente para conocer gente, especialmente cuando el espacio de entretenimiento esta activo. Las habitaciones son mucho mas basicas que las zonas publicas. Espera literas, sabanas DIY, poca calidez en la decoracion y una sensacion mas cercana a alojamiento funcional que a refugio acogedor. El desayuno puede venir bien, pero es sencillo y el horario importa si sales muy temprano al aeropuerto.
Señales a revisar
- El ruido puede ser un problema real desde la calle, la terraza, la zona del bar, las puertas y las habitaciones compartidas.
- La zona alrededor puede sentirse dura o incomoda de noche, y el parking no es un punto fuerte.
- Las camas pueden tener colchones o almohadas con tacto plastico, y las toallas o articulos de aseo pueden costar extra o faltar.
- Algunas camas de dormitorio pueden no tener lockers, repisas, enchufes, luces o suficiente espacio personal.
- El desayuno es basico y puede no funcionar bien para salidas muy temprano.
