Although the hostel has an ingenious concept to save costs by mattresses that have waterproof covers (fortunately it wasn't too hot) of beds that can be made and unmade by the guests, so very few personell for such a big hostel, the price of €30 for an 8 bedded room in the weekend, was including a breakfast that had apples or old oranges being the only fresh food. No cucumber, onion, tomatoes or salad.

I woke up at around 2am due to itching and found bed bugs on my arms and also on my pillow. It was horrible and I have loads of itchy spots. This was not acceptable to have bed bugs and it ruined my trip to Belgium. Needless to say, I did not have a good night sleep on my one night, and resorted to sleeping on the floor due to the bugs. This was my first ever experience with actually seeing bed bugs and while there were not loads, they certainly left their mark. It is a hostel definitely on the more expensive end of hostels that I have stayed and even with breakfast, my experience was absolutely not worth it. To make it worse, there were no staff working at all the following morning as they were not to begin until 2.30pm, meaning I was unable to inform anyone. Bed bugs in one bed may indicate they are in others too. It's not worth the breakfast, I don't recommend it

Charleroi Youth Hostel funziona al meglio come stopover pratico accanto alla stazione Charleroi-Central, ai collegamenti bus e alle connessioni aeroportuali. L'edificio è moderno, luminoso e centrale, con un setup utile per una notte prima o dopo un viaggio. Il piano comune è la parte più vivace: c'è un'area stile bar con divani, musica, biliardo, calcio balilla e ping pong. Può essere un posto decente per conoscere altri, soprattutto quando lo spazio entertainment è attivo. Le camere sono molto più basic delle aree pubbliche. Aspettati letti a castello, lenzuola fai-da-te, poco calore nell'arredo e un feeling da ostello più vicino all'alloggio funzionale che a un hangout cozy. La colazione può essere comoda, ma è semplice e l'orario conta per le partenze molto presto verso l'aeroporto.
Segnali da controllare
- Il rumore può essere un vero problema dalla strada, dalla terrazza, dall'area bar, dalle porte e dalle camere condivise.
- La zona intorno può sembrare ruvida o poco confortevole di notte, e il parcheggio non è un punto forte.
- I letti possono avere materassi o cuscini effetto plastica, e asciugamani o toiletries possono costare extra o mancare.
- Alcuni letti in dormitorio possono non avere armadietti, mensole, prese, luci o abbastanza spazio personale.
- La colazione è basic e potrebbe non funzionare bene per partenze molto presto.
