the place was lovely but about 12-24 hours after leaving the hostel, I noticed bed bug bites over my body…based on my trip, it only makes sense that i got them from the hostel

Good location, close to the Westbahnhof train station. Seemed like a nice place, the check-in was very friendly and the room for 3 people was small but ok. I found bedbugs in our triple room, and I was bitten multiple times. While we were able to switch rooms and some of our clothes were frozen, the response from the staff made it seem like this was no big deal. It was, however, a very unpleasant and gross experience, and I am still disgusted by the thought of it. We never received an apology, and despite following up by email, I haven't received any response. Additionally, I wanted to make a tea in the kitchen, but it was so dirty that I was turned off.

Definitely the BEST HOSTEL I stayed in so far!!! Absolute recommendation, I will come back! I stayed in a girls room (6 beds): + very friendly workers + WhatsApp Group with daily information about activities, dinner and organisation + free lockers for arrival and after check-out + very nice rooms with comfortable beds, lamps and plug sockets next to each bed, very clean, NO bed bugs! + big lockers inside the room (big backpack fits inside) + electronic key cards for doors and individual lockers + very clean and modern bathroom with separate WC and rain shower (hotel vibes) + free water and lemonade at the entry for everyone day and night + big kitchen with everything you need, clean + laundry room with several washing machines and dryers + nice lobby with guitars and piano + dining room, cool bar and nice garden + yummy breakfast menu every morning like in a Café + VERY SOCIAL HOSTEL and perfect for solo travellers, activities every day + TIP BASED DINNER every night at 8 pm! Good food and also good opportunity to meet new people, eat and drink together and play games + good location! I felt very safe although I'm a solo female traveller, the area is lively and safe and you can walk from Mariahilfer Street to the city center (30 minutes) or to the Schönbrunn Palace (20 minutes) or take the tram + many supermarkets (Penny, BILLA, LIDL), drug store (dm) and restaurants near hostel Honestly, I cannot complain about anything! I had a very good time. Thank you so much!

Overall a great experience. The reason the reason there's only 2 stars is because I got bitten at night by bedbugs and although I understand this could happen anywhere, I was a bit surprised that when I informed it at reception I wasn't offered any compensation witch would be expected anywhere else.

L'auberge Ruthensteiner Vienna est un établissement social avec un bar, de grands espaces communs, un jardin et des dîners partagés. Le personnel est sympathique et la propriété est propre dans les espaces communs et dans les chambres. L'emplacement est bien adapté aux transports en commun, en particulier Westbahnhof et U3. Il n'est pas au milieu des principaux sites touristiques, et il faut donc du temps pour y arriver. L'auberge est plus pratique que soignée. La taille de la pièce est le principal compromis. Les chambres sont souvent très petites, le rangement est limité et l'intimité rare, car les lits ne sont pas couverts de rideaux. Le bruit des bars, de la cour, de la rue ou des pièces voisines peut être dangereux la nuit. Le dortoir féminin est de l'autre côté de la route des espaces communs principaux, donc les sorties de nuit pour un verre, du thé ou une salle de bain sont moins pratiques.
Signaux à vérifier
- Les chambres sont souvent très petites, avec peu de rangement et peu d'intimité.
- Le bruit des bars, de la cour, de la rue ou des pièces voisines peut être dangereux la nuit.
- Le dortoir féminin est de l'autre côté de la route des espaces communs.
- Le petit déjeuner et quelques extras coûtent en plus.
