The place wasn’t clean, I found bed bugs in the room, the bed sheets were dirty, we were supposed to be in a room for 6 people and they allocated 8 people in the room. The communication in English is not sufficient. The hostel was overbooked, there were just 3 toilets and 1 shower, they were always dirty and flooded. We didn’t feel secure.

The hostel was undergoing renovations whilst I was there. There were no locks on any doors, no lockers and many, many things inside of the hostel were broken (bunk beds, door handles, bathrooms, etc). Some other people staying their mentioned that theft was an issue. When I arrived there was only one power socket in a room that held up to eight people. There was one working shower for the entire hostel. Watch out when going to the bathroom, many of the bathrooms do not have doors that close properly, let alone lock. The hostel was hard to find (it is in the building behind the kebab place on the second floor) and I was unable to find any signs directing people to it. There was little in the way of day to day management by the owners, instead I had to ask advice from the sole construction worker completing the renovations who spoke English, who remarkably also turned out to be by far the most racist man I have ever met (no small feat) and who gave me lectures in the mornings on his views whilst I was getting ready to head out for the day. By far the worst hostel I stayed at during the months I spent backpacking around Europe. Do not go here unless you have no other option.

Centrum Hostel è un crash pad economico e centrale a Pecs, da trattare più come letto last-minute che come scena ostello rifinita. Le parti utili sono dirette: la posizione è vicina al centro città, il prezzo può essere basso, e c'è una cucina condivisa che può includere basi come fornello, microonde, frigo e acqua del rubinetto potabile. Non è un ostello sociale da romanticizzare. L'atmosfera può sembrare ruvida, con persone ubriache, residenti di lungo periodo, confini deboli intorno ai dormitori e poca sensazione di spazio personale sicuro. Armadietti o camere chiudibili potrebbero non essere disponibili, e il deposito bagagli può significare semplicemente fidarsi della stanza. Le strutture sono incoerenti. L'acqua calda può mancare, i bagni possono essere sporchi o allagati, letti e castelli possono essere consumati o non sicuri, e la biancheria è stata inaffidabile. Anche il check-in può essere scomodo: l'edificio può essere difficile da trovare, la segnaletica può mancare, i codici porta possono non arrivare in anticipo e la comunicazione dello staff può essere limitata fuori dall'ungherese. Il fit migliore è un viaggiatore budget che ha bisogno del centro di Pecs, può tollerare un setup molto basic ed è a suo agio portandosi dietro i valori tutto il giorno. Chiunque abbia bisogno di pulizia, sonno calmo, deposito sicuro, check-in chiaro o un normale vibe da ostello dovrebbe fare attenzione qui.
