Hostel Trastevere

Stayed here for 5 nights. Staff were helpful and kind. Here is the bad part 1. You need to bring your own lock for the lockers, otherwise its just open so i couldn't safely store my belongings anywhere. 2. I got bit all over my body by bed bugs Every Single NIGHT. 3. Windows are sealed shut and there was just one air conditioner which definitely didn't help the smell. 4. Restrooms were just a mess. No trash can, No soap, i couldn't even fully close the door. 5. People staying here definitely aren't the cleanest. Socks on the window handles, piles of dirty, smelly clothing in the corners of the room. Also important to mention, my room looked nothing like the first few pictures.

+ The Trastevere train station is nearby, so it’s easy to travel to and from the airport. -There were bed bugs -The shower drain didn’t drain properly. -The bathroom door handle came off. -There were no locks on the bathroom doors -There was no soap, shower gel, etc. -The air conditioning was broken. -The lockable cabinets for your belongings were pretty small. -The beds weren’t numbered properly, and most of the beds didn’t have numbers at all, so you were just guessing which bed was yours.

SCONSIGLIO ASSOLUTAMENTE!!!È invaso da cimici da letto, non sembra perché i materassi sono nuovi ma io ne ho vista una correre nella mia valigia che ho preso con una bottiglia vuota e portata in reception, mi hanno spostata di camera ma hanno minimizzato. Ora sono invasa di bolle e dovrò disinfettare ogni cosa di casa mia. Sono molto arrabbiata per questo e non ho ricevuto niente da loro.....io ero nella stanza 102 poi spostata alla 4. Tutto ciò per me è assurdo!!!!

A fuirrrr hostel dégoûtant, tout est sale que sa soit de l’intérieur et l’extérieur. Les chambre n’en parlons pas! Des couverture deja utilisé et remplie de punaise de lit.

To be honest, I wouldn’t recommend going there. While the staff is nice, the room itself is dirty and not really guestfriendly: only two power sockets for 5 people, no curtains, no handsoaps, renting a towels costs 5€💀,moldy shower and loud construction starting at 7:30 am. I saw two BEDBUGS in my bed in the night. There were blood stains on the bed as well.

this place was extremely dissapointing, I have stayed in 15 hostels this year across the world and this is the worst. Multiple of my friends woke up with bites all over them, not mosquito bites (upon reading other reviews, you have admitted there are insects in the bedding? even if it’s not bed bugs this is still disgusting), we didn’t have enough towels or blankets for the people staying in the room, even when we asked for them AT THE RECEPTION…staff told me the towels were not accessible? the showers flooded the whole bathroom, our bathroom flooded with sewage water so disgusting. no locks on individual toilet stalls or showers, one morning a stranger was in the bathroom and locked me out so I couldn’t use the facilities! in another scenario a key was taken out of the bathroom which prevented ANYONE from locking the bathroom including showers and toilet stalls because there are no individual locks. soap was provided for 1 day but dissapeared, assuming another person from a different room had taken it and it was never replaced. anyone could just walk straight in off the street and use the bathroom, no security. looking at all these reviews seems like you guys don’t know how to take constructive criticism, and these are quite immature and unprofessional responses.

Clean rooms (no bed bugs so no need to worry), sympathetic and nice staff.

Decided to ignore the bed bug comments. NEVER AGAIN. Woke up with 30+ bites on my legs and stomach, were flatter than my normal mosquito bites and in clusters. Found a bed bug the size of my nail on my towel on the ground. Manager gave me a refund for the last night I was staying there and moved me rooms. Found bed bug droppings on the floor in the next room. A staff member tried to gaslight me into thinking I’m the only one who’s had this issue. Pay the extra 5-10 euros and stay somewhere nicer

this hostel is a public health hazard. The room was like a dungeon with no windows to even get some fresh air. there's no soap or toilet paper (when I asked I was told to bring my own!!) it's weird knowing everyone is walking around with dirty hands. The staff are careless, and some are even rude. The shower doors are see-through, the toilets doors have no locks. and the big surprise was BEDBUGS INFESTATIONS. I had to check out at 6 am. it's better to sleep under a bridge.

I chose to come to an hostel cause it was a last minute one day trip and the price offer seemed good for the position (even if in the meanwhile I discovered it was not the touristic part of Trastevere so not so comfy to walk around). Unfortunately I had a terrible experience, the day after I came home I got an irritation to the legs due to bed bugs, I stayed two days with itching, red signs on legs and swollen ankles (my doctor verified it). Even in the bathroom there were no soaps to wash.

BETTWANZEN Wir haben eine Nacht in dem Hostel verbracht, direkt am nächsten Tag hatten wir juckende Stellen am Körper, welche stetig mehr wurden - Es sind Bisse von Bettwanzen, wie auch in anderen Bewertungen erwähnt. Das Zimmer insbesondere das Badezimmer riechen sehr unangenehm.

Virkelig ringe oplevelse, som jeg ikke ønsker for nogen andre. Alt var galt, først og fremmest var morgenmad horribel. Dernæst var alt galt på værelserne, afløbene var stoppet op til flere gang. Der var myrer og BED BUGS, derudover fandt vi mad bag sengene. De "redte" sengene, men de byttede faktisk bare rundt på lagener og nogle gang redte de kun halvdelen af sengene på et værelse. Det var også meningen at de skulle udskifte Håndklæder, det gjorde de næsten ikke. Så man skulle selv gå op i receptionen og spørge efter nye. De tjekkede heller ikke toiletpapir, det skulle vi også selv op og spørger efter flere gange. Hvis jeg kunne give 0 stjerner, havde det her været stedet.

Hallo, ich war vor einigen Wochen in diesem Hostel und die Antworten des Betreibers auf Rezensionen haben mich daher zurückschrecken lassen. Hier eine Auflistung positiver und negativer Punkte: Pro: -Das Hotelpersonal war im Gegensatz zu seiner Onlinepräsenz höflich und gastfreundlich. -Des weiteren war es auch möglich schnell einzuchecken -Der Aufenthaltsraum war überraschend gut und die Anbindung an Bus und Bahn war auch super Doch nun zu der Kritik: -Angefangen mit schlechtem Geruch innerhalb der Zimmer, die einen leicht abgestandenen Eindruck hinterlassen haben -Des weiteren konnte man sich auch mit der Gesellschaft von Bettwanzen und weiteren Insekten begnügen -Die Dusche treibt einen auch sich sehr zu beeilen, da warmes Wasser nur mit einem sehr guten Vorstellungsvermögen erahnbar ist (dies auch nur bei einer geringen Körpertemperatur) -Nach dem Duschen konnte man auch einen angenehmen Geruch nach Schimmel und anderen Fäkalien feststellen -Der nächste Adrenalinschock war das Frühstück, mit abgestandenem Gebäck und geronnener Milch, des weiteren vergorenner Marmelade hatte die Auswahl schon ein Ende

I don’t recommend this hostel. Me and my friend were there in August. We were bitten by bedbugs so we checked out and went to the other place. Even if the staff gave us the money for the laundry and we got the whole refund, they still didn’t think it’s something bad in their behavior. The bedbugs can be transmitted to other places very easily, but hostel wanted us to stay silent about the situation when they gave us the refund.

We were on a school trip and had booked this hotel. However we didn't know what to expect because the reviews were mixed. As soon as we got to the room we did a bed bug check and found one alive between the sheets. Also the sheets had holes and the room looked dirty. We didn't stay there and the staff were not surprised at all about the bugs. Also the way the hotel answers to these reviews is really unprofessional and rude. They accuse people that they have never been at the hotel and the hotel didn't have to do that if everything was okay. We had a terrible 15 minutes at the hotel and we will never come back.

TL;DR: You do you, but I'd rather not. The rooms in this hostel are highly unhygienic, the existing furniture and utensils (of which there weren't much) mostly dysfunctional or fully broken. The service is basic with a few exceptions, although there is always something lacking. In total, the negative aspects definitely outweigh the positive ones. I would not recommend booking a stay in this hostel. CONS: - BED BUGS - as the hotel was able to take quick action, I assume it is not a rare phenomenon - other very small, unidentifiable bugs in two beds - unidentifiable dead bug underneath the mattress - dirty, sticky ground with mysterious stains, small pieces of trash, and a cigarette butt - dirty towels and bedsheets with more mysterious, yellow spots - bedsheets, towels, and chairs are lacking - mold, mostly in the shower cabin, but also above the beds - drainage problem caused a not-so-pleasant rotten-egg-like smell across all rooms on the upper floor - shades are not functioning - tapestry is peeling off - bidet is leaking - unreliable Wifi - (almost) no warm water - no cleaning staff activities for our whole week of stay - despite there being 4+ people in a room, you only get one key; there is an option to place the keys in a bowl at the reception, but nobody supervises them - mostly unbalanced breakfast options - the hostel orders pastries for breakfast from another place, so the service doesn't know anything about the ingredients - the utensils in the communal kitchen are dirty PROS: - there are rooms with a shower, a toilet, and a balcony - the rooms are quite spacious - there is a communal kitchen - there is breakfast - there is a water dispenser - there are comfortable couches in the entrance - there is a downstairs lobby with table tennis, a foosball table and a couch - the location is pretty central - friendly, helpful staff - quick action regarding the bed bugs - high flexibility for planning, i.e., when providing the keys for the luggage room Conclusion: Trust Evere? More like Trust Nevere - at least not in terms of hygiene.

‏Unfortunately, my experience at this hostel was disappointing. Apart from the friendly receptionist, everything else was subpar. They had bed bugs in several rooms, and despite the advertised age limit of 18-35, I woke up to two men in their 50s-60s, which made me feel uncomfortable. The blankets were thin, the shower flooded. I don’t recommend this hostel—it’s worth spending a bit more for a better experience

There were many bedbugs in the bed, they bit me, they offer solutions, but the damage is done, I wasn't the only one that found out there were bedbugs on his bed... It's a shame, because it's a good hostel but this is a really important problem, they said they would fumigate before giving the room to any other guests, but the woman who cleaned put new sheets in front of me immediately after taking mines...

TLDR: The hostel had bedbugs when i was there. I would not recommend Hostel Trastevere. There are other much better hostels in good parts of Rome. When I arrived it took about 10 minutes for someone to come and check me in, it seemed like the staff were just sitting around talking and on their phones ignoring me before one of them came to check me in. They also asked for a deposit in cash for the key and couldn't take card which is odd. However the lobby/reception area was nicely decorated and furnished, with a kitchen too. My room was in the seperate building which was unexpected but I didn't mind. The only problem was that i felt unsafe because the door to this building was never locked and the building did not have staff or security in it. The room was pretty standard however it was annoying not to have a blanket or a towel. Especially in the night because I got cold. They didn't tell me that you could hire a towel but i found out later you can from someone else. There is no soap or paper towels in the bathrooms, not even to wash your hands which i find disgusting. I just used my own but most other hostels include this so it was disappointing. There were not enough lockers, so only 4 in a 6 person room. The locks for the showers didn't work in my bathroom and the lock for the room was not automatic like every other hostel i have stayed in. I heard people complaining about thieves jumping the fence in the alleyway and stealing things from their rooms on the bottom floor of the building but i didn't experience this myself. The worst part and mostly the reason for my bad review is because on the second day i was there i woke up with bites and found bedbugs in my bed. The receptionist did not even apologise. Also, it's a bit weird that some of their signs and their websites say hostel trust ever and the name is Trastevere? The location was out of the way but close to a bus stop.

L’hostel est facilement accessible depuis l’aéroport grâce au train et est bien situé pour pouvoir découvrir les beaux monuments de Rome. Le personnel de l’hostel est aussi très accueillant mais j’ai été assez déçue par la propreté de l’hostel et par l’équipement des chambres. Pas de savon au niveau des toilettes, des lavabos bouchés, des punaises de lit dans la chambre et la salle de bain, un sol très sale…

There were bedbugs in the room I stayed in. I wanted to change my room because I was bitten too much. The receptionist said that this situation was normal in hotels and they changed my room and took me to another room with bedbugs again. i would never stay again and i would not recommend it to anyone!

Bed bugs

When looking at reviews of the place we found reports of bed bugs. As soon as we got there, we laid our bags outside the room and checked the room and sure enough we found bed bugs. To their credit, they did get us a new room but it’s still worth mentioning. The second room however has given me some kind of insect bites during our stay there so I would highly recommend to tread with caution and check your body for bites. Placement in the city however is good, easy to get into the centre.

Another room reported bed bugs when I was there but I didn’t have any. Otherwise, it was clean and it was nice having an en-suite and the option to not have a bunk bed

BEWARE OF BED BUGS!! I had the worst night of my life. The room was swarming with bed bugs. It could have been forgiven if the staff were nice and helpful after I told them, but they told me not to tell anyone and got annoyed when I told the other girls who were in the room with me (which was actually in their favor as these girls were supposed to move to another room which would infect the whole hostel if they didn’t know they need to purify their luggage). They didn’t offer me a refund and I actually needed to argue with the receptionist for half an hour before he gave me a refund!! They offered me to use their washing machine but didn’t offer a solution for my luggage bags. When I asked for bin bags to put in the sun they asked me to move it in a very rude and unpleasant way. Not to mention my body is full of bites. Honestly the way they handled it was unbelievable. If they were kinder and helpful my review would not be so bad.

The hostel it’s well located in the Trastevere Area. Pretty close to Trastevere Station as well. The building it’s ok, nice decoration, decent rooms for a hostel with nice beds and lockers. Also the guys in reception are nice and friendly. BUT! ITS FULL OF BED BUGS. LIKE A SUPER BIG ISSUE. I’ve seen so many the first night and they changed me to other room to clean it. Then the made me to come back and apparently they’ve changed the mattresses but they were still there. I have bites all over my body all my clothes were contaminated including my backpack bumbag and literally everything that touch the bed and floor. I’ve stayed in many hostel all over the world and this never happened to me. I had to put all my belongings to wash and dry in high heat and I bought some bites cream for the itching spending around 50 euros. I don’t know if I got rid of the problem already. But hopefully are not in my stuff anymore. Worst experience ever. The hostel could be really amazing, but it’s infested and they know it. Absolutely not recommendable.

They have a big problem with bedbugs, I NEVER recommend this hostel, I spent two nights and they were the worst nights of my life, I was bitten by bedbugs all over my body, I woke up itching and couldn't sleep, don't stay in this place. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THEM. I had to call the receptionist at 4 am to change the mattress, and the bed sheets, when we woke up we found more, they don't know what hygiene is:

Bed bug alert! I reached out to the hostel via email to make them aware that I had been extensively bitten by bed bugs during my stay. I did not ask for a refund, simply to make them aware, but I did not even get a response. I was covered in bites from feet to shoulders, and struggled to sleep for a week due to the itchiness.

PUNAISE DE LIT !!! Les salles de bains et chambres sont sales . Aucune hygiène Je ne recommande pas , pas de verrou dans les douches et toilettes ???!?!? La cuisine n’est absolument pas entretenue. A descent place to stay, relatively close to a lot of stuff. The bathroom smelt horrible and had no lock on the door, but you get used to that. Gotten some bedbug bites after the visit.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Dirt and stench everywhere, especially in the rooms and in the luggage room. The hairdryer appeared broken and the bedding was both stained and unclothed - disgusting. Worst of all, both my friends and I were bitten by bedbugs in the hotel. We are currently struggling with wounds and pain - unfortunately, we are forced to have a professional extermination of our homes, which entails additional costs. The hotel does not reply to emails with complaints. If I do not receive a refund for my stay, I will insert photos of my wounds. I have suffered damage to my health at this hotel. Take care! Stay away from this place, otherwise your trip may turn into a nightmare just like ours did.

Bed bugs and cockroaches, staff was very nice but there were not enough people working to handle the amount of guests.

Overall experience was very good. The hostel, the hallways and the bathroom were clean (the toilets have bidets) and the staff are very friendly. The hostel is around 25-45 minutes away from the city center which is not bad. However my bed wasn’t very clean and it wasn’t made when I arrived, and I felt one or two bed bug bites/itchiness during the night. The other bed however was made up and clean so it’s probably an individual incident.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Had the absolute worst experience EVER at this hostel. Dirty, things broken all throughout the room, and just absolutely horrifying. Hostel staff was found going through our belongings, bed bugs were found in our beds, and water damage on the doors was leading to mold. The only lockers provided were in the hallway, not in our rooms, which we had to use a lock provided by the hostel. Staff were in and out of our room all day with bullsh*t excuses as to why they had to come in once they realized there was someone inside the room. The ground was covered in a thick layer of dirt (picture provided is AFTER a girl in my group showered and walked on the floor), the outlet near the sink was half hanging open, the shower didn't have proper drainage so it flooded the bathroom into the room (see pictures for water damage), and the curtains were hung up with binder clips. Staff was shady, rooms were disgusting, and I felt truly unsafe in this hostel. Please, please, please go somewhere else to stay because you should NEVER trust this hostel, as the name suggests.

The first day we arrived at the place, everything seemed fine right until we got our keys and entered the room. - There was a lack of cleaning. - Our floor was dirty and the water in the showers couldn't drain properly. Our mirror was broken. -The wifi didn't work outside of the lobby. - Some complete strangers entered our room at night. That means they had access to keys to our room without our knowledge. - No emergency exit from the rooms. - One elevator connecting the floors. For emergency stairs we had to go to the next building. And worst of all, many of our travel companions got serious cases with bedbug bites. Would not recommend.

We arrived and my bed was wet from the air condition dripping down on it. We asked for a solution and they gave me a new mattress on the floor - so I slept on the floor for 5 days. We asked for soap and toilet paper for days and nothing happened. The other girls we were with also had no fire exit in their room in case of an emergency. Now that we’re back home, the majority of us have bed bug bites from the beds. Terrible place

I don’t recommend to go there! Rooms are dirty and not cleaned at all! The bed sheets have stains, the beds are super hard and you can’t sleep on them at all! Also the beds had BEDBUGS! There is mold on the walls. The bathroom wasn’t cleaned either, and the shower drains don’t drain! (NB! I don’t come from Paris, and I’ve never been in Paris) (stayed 29/9-3/10/2023)

BED BUGS! I had bed bugs in my room and the boss of the hostel told me to not talk about it. He was trying to hide it. They changed me rooms and offered me breakfast (5€) for compensation. The worst part was that they put another guest in the same bedroom so they don’t care about it. I wanted a refund but it was only for a night. The bathroom isn’t clean, not enough plug to charge your things.

I only had limited time at the hostel as i was only there for one night. The staff were lovely, however, unfortunately i did get bitten by bed bugs.

Not a pleasant experience. I was given a bed with bedbugs after the guest the day before had reported the bed bugs.When I reported the issue to management they denied it and I had to speak with long term guests to learn that management was totally aware of this issue upon my arrival. Management wasn't going to issue me a full refund so I told them I would speak to website about the bed bugs. Their response was that if I notify website they will add charges to my account

DON'T GO TO THAT HOSTEL Stayed for 3 nights. Thought it was a nice place in the beginning : clean rooms, great ambiance, well at first. But on the second day, one of my roomates left, and my bed was cleaned instead of hers, because the cleaning lady thought I was the one leaving. Some make up and my ear plugs were beside my bed, for a total worth 50 euros, and I couldn't find neither of these anymore after the cleaning of my bed. I asked the reception about it, said they were going to look for it. The third and last day, I asked them about it, and, long story short, the man who answered me (the bald one, who doesn't speak a word of English, kind of sad and strange for someone who works in a hostel.....) said it was not their fault and that we had lockers (there are absolutely no lockers in the room). I tried to find a solution, asking him what should we do, since my stuff disappeared the morning my bed was cleaned, and he declined any responsibility, I was just speaking to a wall in the end. Wish I had spoken to the other lady, less short tempered, more customer friendly and way more considerate. As you can see in most of the bad comments, it's not the first time things are stolen, and the owner declines any responsibility. On top of that he blames the client, and makes excuses for matters that can't be excused and should normally be carried on a much more professional way. Left a bitter taste for what was supposed to be a great experience. UPDATE: my roommates and I discovered bedbugs under our mattresses, I got bitten all over my legs. We told the receptionist (still the bald one), he didn't move a finger and seemed so un bothered, saying the cleaning lady were going to clean it in the morning, which is not at all the solution for bedbugs....

No joke, I stayed in room 20 and there were bed bugs. Haven’t come across them my whole trip, and I was shocked at finding them in every bed. It was gross. And the staff did nothing to help, after we showed them the infestation. Do not stay if you don’t want bed bugs.

I stayed for a short amount of time which was ideal as it was one of the most affordable options! All in all, staff was super friendly. I would recommend them to maybe have some spare locks for people to rent or buy. I had the impression of the mixed bedroom and bed being clean, even though I spotted some bites after the first night and those could have been bed bugs. Bathroom could be cleaner and would be nice to to have lights and power outlets next to every bed. Breakfast was good!

WORST HOSTEL EVER. Don’t stay here. Someone in our group had over $140 stolen out of her bag by the staff. We were here with a tour group, and most rooms had food or money stolen out of them. The rooms are dirty, and there was trash in them upon checkin. Our A/C clearly had mold growing under it (it was pink and leaking all down the wall) and everyone in our room suddenly developed terrible respiratory symptoms that got better once we left the room. We had coughs, sore throats, mucus, and headaches. The staff would come into our room without permission (we caught them while we were in the room one day). This is not a safe hostel. Other reviews complained about bed bugs, so we had to pull apart everything to check for them. Sheets were stained and mattresses had dirt and food all over them. My roommate even found glass in her bed. We would have immediately left if we could, but our tour group didn’t let us and we didn’t have the means to find our own accommodations last-minute. When we told the staff about our concerns, they brushed all of them off and got mad at us for complaining. They refused to let us change rooms even though ours was clearly unsafe and dirty. The manager will probably respond to this review saying I’m a liar, as he has with all the other honest negative reviews on the internet. Let me tell you, all of the negative reviews are completely accurate. This place should be shut down. Save yourself and never come here.

I truly do not understand how this has so many positive reviews. The basement rooms are absolutely disgusting. Dirty towels left by previous guests on the floor as well as dirty sheets used to make the beds. Told management and it was just brushed off. Bathrooms and some bedrooms do not lock, and showers are see through, so 2 people cannot use the bathroom at the same time. Multiple bugs found within the room (potentially bed bugs). The area is sketchy at night, and it is a 25 minute walk into Trastevere. Save your money and stay literally anywhere else.

I'm traveling with a group and room #103 was infested with bed bugs. When they asked for assistance the front desk employees were rude and dismissive. Tokens for the washer AND dryer had to be asked for MULTIPLE times after being refused. On top of that £100, a handbag, sunglasses, and a jacket we're stolen by the cleaning staff. There is no accountability at this business. Completely unacceptable.
