I got bitten by bedbugs. Then i checked the mattress and found some bedbugs and bedbug droppings in the seams. At first i thought it was isolated, but then near the end of my stay, i talked to another guest who stayed in another room and she also had bedbugs. So the hostel is infested. Also I once got woken up around 3 AM because an employee (or maybe it was the owner, someone referred to him by the nickname "bubbles") of the hostel was blasting music from a speaker that was next to our window on the other side of the wall. Couldn't sleep much afterwards. The hostel has quiet hours but they were ignored by the staff of the hostel to have a loud party at 3 AM.

Staff were lovely so I feel bad leaving a bad review but the cleanliness was actually a joke for the price. Free breakfast was toast and cold scrambled eggs. Also really far out of the town so i didn’t feel safe. I’ve also left with lots of suspicious looking bites. Not sure if bed bugs but wouldn’t be surprised.

They're the only place that rents scooters, so their initial price is in the sky. Try to negotiate it. The worse thing - they have bedbugs🤮 Not acceptable nowadays! They try very hard with free treats for guests, very impressive 👏 . But I had to take antihistamines 3 days after I left.

Yellow Belly Backpackers è una base sociale e di buon valore a San Ignacio, con molto che succede in loco: bar, aree hangout in giardino e sul deck, piscina, freccette, amache, una chitarra, lavanderia, acqua refill, bici gratuite e attività serali regolari. Il mood è amichevole e di solito facile da agganciare senza trasformarsi in un party hostel totale. Il tour ATM Cave è lo standout qui. Può essere prenotato tramite l'ostello, parte abbastanza presto da battere il traffico più pesante nella grotta, e guide come Damien e Josiah gli danno un forte taglio adventure-science con geologia, archeologia e sicurezza gestite bene. La colazione è un vero punto forte per il prezzo, con uova, granola, frutta, toast, cereali, caffè, tè, succo e a volte frijoles o patate. I dormitori sono spesso spaziosi e possono avere tende, locker, prese accanto al letto, mensole, ventilatori personali e AC, anche se quel setup non è coerente in ogni letto o camera. La posizione è più tranquilla del centro e vicina alle rovine di Cahal Pech, all'Iguana Conservation Project, ai bus e a cibo più economico nei dintorni. Il tradeoff è la collina: il paese è a circa 15-20 minuti a piedi, e il ritorno può sembrare cardio sotto il sole caldo.
Segnali da controllare
- Le camere possono essere calde o soffocanti, e l'accesso all'AC può essere limitato, incoerente, debole o a costo extra a seconda della camera.
- I bagni sono grandi, ma potrebbero non bastare negli orari di punta, e la pulizia può essere altalenante.
- La cucina esiste e può essere utile, ma l'attrezzatura può essere limitata o incoerente.
- La posizione in cima alla collina è tranquilla e comoda per Cahal Pech, ma meno pratica per la nightlife in centro o rientri solitari tardi.
- Il rumore può arrivare da bar, aree esterne, lavatrice, eventi vicini o socialità al mattino presto, soprattutto nelle camere posteriori o superiori.
- Letti, cuscini, materassi, biancheria e vecchi elementi possono sembrare consumati in alcune camere.
