Hostal Forestal has a great location and the hostel seemed very nice at first. It took me 2-3 nights into my stay to realize that I wasn’t covered in mosquito bites, but had been sleeping in a bed with bedbugs. I’m attaching a picture of just my hands which both have trails of small red bug bites. I also have bug bites on my face and ankles, which are common places where bedbugs bite. I understand this isn’t necessarily the fault of the hostel, but it’s one of the worst case scenarios while traveling. I was given a new bed in a different room after I reported this to them. No refund was given. I had no problems with bedbugs in my previous hostel so I can only assume it came from Hostal Forestal. The bathrooms were also not very clean, in particular the floors were pretty dirty. Unfortunately I would recommend staying with a different hostel in Santiago.

Was staying during the protests, staff were supportive in ensuring everyone was safe. Some members of staff were more knowledgeable about the local area than others. Beds were comfortable. Each room had a set of lockers and electric points (though some in awkward locations). There is a social area and free breakfast. I'm pretty sure there were bedbugs though. First hostel I went to on my trip, and the only night during the holiday I've woken up with bites.

Guitarra e cantar na recepção podem fazer parte da experiência do Hostal Forestal. Pode dar ao local uma sensação de casa social, mas também significa que o ruído pode se infiltrar nos quartos próximos tarde da noite ou cedo de manhã, especialmente ao redor da entrada, recepção, escadas e áreas comuns. A localização é a mais limpa: centro de Santiago, perto de Lastarria, Bellavista, parques, restaurantes, bares e paradas de metrô como Baquedano ou Bellas Artes. A equipe pode ser calorosa e prestativa, com ajuda com bagagem, dicas locais e soluções práticas como verdadeiros pontos fortes. Há uma cozinha compartilhada, e o café da manhã varia de decente e saciante a básico, com ovos, pão, frutas, cereais, café, chá ou pratos simples, dependendo do dia. A troca é o edifício. Os quartos podem ser pequenos, velhos, frios, úmidos, sufocados ou mal ventilados, e o isolamento sonoro é fraco. Camas, travesseiros, toalhas, pisos, banheiros, esgotos, água quente, ventiladores e Wi-Fi são inconsistentes, por isso funciona melhor como uma parada central barata do que uma base restauradora.

- Os que dormem pouco devem evitar quartos próximos à recepção, à entrada, escadas ou áreas comuns.
- A água quente pode não ser confiável, e o drenagem do banheiro ou o cheiro dos esgotos podem ser um problema.
- A limpeza e a qualidade da cama são inconsistentes; vale a pena levar a sério o risco de percevejos ou insetos.
- Pagamentos, reservas excessivas, troca de quarto, armazenamento de bagagem e reembolsos podem exigir cuidado especial.
