Hostal Forestal has a great location and the hostel seemed very nice at first. It took me 2-3 nights into my stay to realize that I wasn’t covered in mosquito bites, but had been sleeping in a bed with bedbugs. I’m attaching a picture of just my hands which both have trails of small red bug bites. I also have bug bites on my face and ankles, which are common places where bedbugs bite. I understand this isn’t necessarily the fault of the hostel, but it’s one of the worst case scenarios while traveling. I was given a new bed in a different room after I reported this to them. No refund was given. I had no problems with bedbugs in my previous hostel so I can only assume it came from Hostal Forestal. The bathrooms were also not very clean, in particular the floors were pretty dirty. Unfortunately I would recommend staying with a different hostel in Santiago.

I have small, red, itchy bites all over my hands, feet, legs and face. I understand this isn’t necessarily the fault of the hostel, but it’s one of the worst case scenarios while traveling. Was staying during the protests, staff were supportive in ensuring everyone was safe. Some members of staff were more knowledgeable about the local area than others. Beds were comfortable. Each room had a set of lockers and electric points (though some in awkward locations). There is a social area and free breakfast. I'm pretty sure there were bedbugs though. First hostel I went to on my trip, and the only night during the holiday I've woken up with bites.

Analisi dell'atmosfera
Guitarra e canto intorno alla reception possono essere parte dell'esperienza dell'Hostal Forestal. Può dare al posto un'atmosfera di casa sociale, ma significa anche che il rumore può infiltrarsi nelle stanze vicine a tarda notte o presto al mattino, specialmente intorno all'ingresso, alla reception, alle scale e alle aree comuni. La posizione è la più pulita: centro di Santiago, vicino a Lastarria, Bellavista, parchi, ristoranti, bar e fermate della metropolitana come Baquedano o Bellas Artes. Il personale può essere cordiale e disponibile, con aiuto per i bagagli, consigli locali e soluzioni pratiche come veri punti di forza. C'è una cucina condivisa e la colazione va da decente e saporita a base, con uova, pane, frutta, cereali, caffè, tè o semplici spuntini a seconda della giornata. Il compromesso e' l'edificio. Le stanze possono essere piccole, vecchie, fredde, umide, soffocanti o poco ventilate, e l'isolamento acustico è debole. Letti, cuscini, asciugamani, pavimenti, bagni, scarichi, acqua calda, ventilatori e Wi-Fi sono incoerenti, quindi questo funziona meglio come una sosta centrale economica che come una base di restauro.
Segnali da controllare
- Chi dorme leggero deve evitare stanze vicine alla reception, all'ingresso, alle scale o alle aree comuni.
- L'acqua calda può essere inaffidabile e il drenaggio del bagno o l'odore delle acque reflue possono essere un problema.
- La pulizia e la qualità dei letti sono incoerenti; vale la pena prendere sul serio il rischio di cimici o insetti.
- Per pagare, per avere un'offerta eccessiva, per cambiare camera, per conservare i bagagli e per rimborsare i pagamenti, è necessario essere particolarmente attenti.
