reminded of my experience, hence why I'm writing the review
I stayed here a few years back, and was just recently reminded of my experience, hence why I'm writing the review now. If you look at other reviews on my profile, all of them are 4 or 5 stars, so that should really tell you something about this place. I was staying in one of the 40 person rooms one night and had been alseep for about an hour or so when all of a sudden I get woken up by someone screaming at me to give them my room key. Being groggy from just waking up, I figure it's one of my friends having some sort of emergency, so I rush to get my key and give it to them. I rub my eyes, and I come to find it's not one of my friends, but an EMPLOYEE. I ask him why I need to give him my key, and he doesn't respond. He tries to walk away with my room key and I follow him, continuously asking why, but getting no response. Towards the front of the room, the employee was talking to some woman, so I go ask him why he took my key and he just looks at this woman. The woman then says "that's not him". The man says "what do you mean that's not him? He was in bunk 2", to which the woman responds, "maybe he said 22". Apparently someone came in slightly innebriated and the woman thought he said he was in bunk 2, so instead of simply letting it go or at least confirming who it is, she claims that I was belligerently drunk, and the employee decides to wake me up and be incredibly rude, not making the obvious connection that if the person just walked in he's obviously not asleep yet. Worst travel experience of my life, and if these are the people that frequent Jaeger's I don't recommend it to anyone.

Vibe Analysis
Jaeger's Munich works best as a cheap crash pad near Munich Hbf, with the main train station very close and the city center reachable on foot. It is practical for early trains, airport connections, and last-minute budget nights more than for a relaxed social hostel stay. The setup is basic: dorms, in-room bathrooms in some larger rooms, a lobby with tables, vending machines, a small bar, paid breakfast, and a very limited kitchen area with a microwave, kettle, and mini-fridge. Reception may work for late arrivals, and staff can be helpful, but service consistency is shaky. The rough edges are real. Rooms can be cramped, dark, hot, poorly ventilated, and noisy from the street, hallway, room doors, bunks, elevators, and other dorm traffic. Bed comfort varies, privacy curtains are generally absent, lockers may be too small or too few, and towel costs or deposits can add friction. Cleanliness is uneven. Bathrooms are sometimes fine, but there are recurring problems around dirty bathrooms, wet shower floors, messy dorms, stained bedding, smells, and occasional serious pest complaints. Treat this as a low-cost station-base option with clear tradeoffs, not a polished hostel experience.
